And some are pointless.. Like traction control in my Shelby.. If u lay into it won't hook up.. I think it should b as much about the driver as the car

the manufacturers just want everyone to be able to drive the car and i dont blame them. at least they have the feature to be able to turn it off.

I just wonder how far they will take this.. New Shelby has 650.. How far will the government let manufacturers push these cars before they step in and say u can't make something that fast in the us.. U know it's bound to happen

I dunno, as long as they keep putting speed limiters on cars I don't know if that would be a factor. Also as long as it meets the nhtsa safety requirements there should be nothing that doesn't allow them to manufacture what ever they want. It'll definitely be interesting to see how it plays out though!!

---------- Post added at 11:48 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:47 PM ----------

I think fuel economy will be a much larger determining factor than speed haha

Fuel cost as well.. May be the decline of the muscle car again if gas stays over $4 a gallon

On a muscle car yes it is. But on a 1200 HP AWD Bugatti Veyron having launch control makes sense.

Re: ZL1 10's already.

Chevy engineers were only able to squeeze 11s out of the ZL1 with Drag Radials (looked like MT ET Street IIs).

I would consider a car with new tires to be stock... That's not really a "mod."

It'll be the insurance companies who will step in like they did in 1971+. They made it so your cost so much or they would even insure the car. Then there go the sales. Down goes the power. They killed the muscle car until the 2000s. Hopefully won't happen that way again.

In order to prevent an outrage they'll cover it up with some emission BS. Like Jeremy Clarkson said, people who love speed are an endangered species.

I cringe when I see the economy cars and hybrids on the road. They don't have any soul or passion. They just get their owner from point a to point b.

I daily drive one of those economy cars and it's actually a pretty good vehicle and fun to drive. It might actually be more fun to drive on the streets, even though it has a quarter of the power my stang is since you can actually push it to the limit. I cant get my stang anywhere close to its limits on a public road without putting myself or the general public in serious risk.

A car doesn't need 500hp to have soul or passion, and I personally don't see the sense in driving a sports car through rush hour traffic. Seems senseless to me, id rather keep the stang nice and let my economy car take the abuse of congested highways and supermarket parking lots.
