Honestly I personally wouldn't mind doing a turbo 2.3 build one day. I may never get around to it but it seems like it could be fun. But yes the sound of a calmed v8 will never be replaced.

Personally I like any car that's nice and owned right. Don't make it into something that it's not. Or brag that it has 600hp on a 1.5L that has nothing but a intake. Lol.

There is no reason he can't have that much power

Cobalts are very easy to pull power out of. S/C the first couple of years and TC the next few.

Yeah but that is nearly. 250-300% stock power. He has it for sale for 12000 obo. It has been for sale for almost a year for a reason. It is possible, just not likely. I wouldn't be scared to line them up. I have heard it run. Well I take that back. I have seen it run but you couldn't hear it running next to mine.lol

But if it does make that much power cool. I respect that.

Oh, I wasn't necessarily Glorifying it. haha

After owning many a FWD car, I can't justify adding so much HP to a FWD car.

Re: Domistic Rice

haha, They're strictly good for highway rolls.

Example is a Mazdaspeed 3. Gains HP easily with bolt ons. Tune only have run 13.7s and 8s on drs.

Stock they seem to average 14.4-14.8 due to the FWD torque. Too much of it. 280 ft/lbs and early. They help remedy it by the ECU holding back boost in 1st and 2nd and 10% throttle opening regardless of pedal to the metal at redline or above.

So, out of the box power is a problem. I am just glad I test drove it because before the Stang I researched the MS3 so much and wanted one until I drove it.

I wanted a MazdaSpeed3 too. Then I found out they have litetally no build quality. Engines falling out because the motor mounts blow, early turbo issues, bleh

Now I have to say the term RICE does originate from japanese import vehicles and has been a term used for many many decades. And has been since used to discribe a style. You can try to explain it any way you see fit, but bottom line is that RICE does infact a derogatory remark describing an japanese import.

You wouldn't call this rice?

I remember terms like euro. Which is what the Focus RS is euro styling, Remeber the 84 SVO?? or the 1984 Escort EXP??

Rice is used as a derogatory towards vehicles with race-inspired exterior modifications that lack any mechanical modifications to match. SVOs and Cobra R's are in no way rice, they are specialty vehicles. They have exterior styling to match a unique set of mechanical modifications. A stock civic with a huge racing spoiler? Rice.

+1 thats pretty much exactly how the urban dictionary defines rice/ricer. some people take offense to it and can link the origin. but the way we use it is exactly how you describe.

I guess growing up in the time that Rice started to populate the United States doesnt have a +1 when compaired to the URBAN DICTIONARY, to me thats like saying thats what wikipedia says. But it was a term used to discribe japanese imports. Sorry but it is what it is. To be race inspired is one thing to be misguided and over the top is another. I think poser (imposter) fits better than rice, as most owners copy that on which they think is cool.

I'm not picking up what you're putting down. Rice is when you only modify the outside of a vehicle to look like a race car. You showed pictures of a bunch of race cars. Those aren't ricers.. Are we on the same page or am I missing something here? The meaning of a word tends to change over time. Both "gay" and "queer" are two good examples. Used to mean jolly/odd respectively, now are derogatory.
