Lets see who wins? Im guessing 87

What octane does your car run on? 87, 89, or 93? 91 is also an option. Now, let's see who wins

87 2/3 of the time and 93 1/3 of the time, so i guess 87 for me.

91 is the highest I can get around here without having ethonal in it. But I have to drive 17 miles to get it. All we have in my town is 87 and 89 w/ 10% ethonal. Does anyone if you can get a custom tune for partial ethonal gas. Like 89??

93 for cobra
87 for everything else

Those that run higher than 87 you're throwing money away without a tune

+1

I don't know the exact science. But the rating , as in 93 or 87 is just how much lbs of pressure it takes to make the gas combustible. I could be wrong on that, but something like that. So basicaly 93 will compress longer than 87 which makes it better for forced induction, timing advances etc. But on a stock tune it is doing nothing but burning up your wallet.

I'm surprised 87 is so close! I figured it would be last.

If gas prices weren't so high we would probably see even less of 87 and more of 91 and 93

Just stock the Mach1's require premium gas. I would imagine the Cobra's do too. I would think you would not be able to tune either car for 87 octane.

My tunes are 91 street, 91 performance and 93 race. My Cobra stock requires 91+ so I figured to stay 91+ cause if it ain't broke don't fix it

I wonder how many people are actually running 93 just cause they think its better. Haha. And I bet more people actually run 87, but they just don't want to post that there buying cheap gas, even though that's what they should be. How ironic. !

Absolutely. But on a stock tune unless the factory calls for it, 87 should be ran.
Certain cars require it stock. Others like Steve's and mine advanced timing, or forced induction application, etc etc is where its needed.

I am running 16* base timing on my fox with 21* advance. So I definitltly need it.
