My mom tried to teach me at 16 in her 1998 Mazda 626, but she was a horrible teacher and kept telling me "equal parts clutch and gas" as in press the gas an equal amount that you release the clutch. After my first few 4000rpm starts, we both gave up.

It sounds odd, but I actually learned how to drive stick when I bought my 1979 Kawasaki KZ1000. It taught me the basics of finding the engagement point and how to roll into the throttle. I applied that when I bought my first 5spd car; a 1986 Toyota MR2. I flew 1000 miles away with a buddy of mine to Atlanta, GA to buy it and had it down flawlessly by the time we left the city.

You had written on here a while ago that your dad doesn't let you drive it

I learned in my 2002 GT, in a cold, snowy, chicago winter. The car had previously not been driven during winter. Had Balding tires. It was interesting to say the least.

Not since I got the Mustang. but I have driven it 3 times with him in the car. Those were before I got the mustang, and they were to practice driving stick. That's why i always say I prefer a mechanical clutch over a hydraulic clutch (you can probably guess which one has which)

And it's not because he doesn't trust me, it's because there is usually a different car available if the Mustang isn't.

A 2009 ford focus. But when I really got the hang of it I was driving a Mini Cooper.... But then I got the stang and learned to in that. Think I'm pretty good now after only a year.

I first learned on my parents 93 Foxbody Cobra, but we didn't want to hurt that car at all, so I moved to my parents BMW 328i and finally my 07 V6.
