I have a cobra (bought it 4 my trip to vegas)...crappy...mostly only picks up GPS in minivans and bigrigs. Best bet is save money 4 tickets or dont speed. Even with a 5 mile radius, @ 80mph it'll be 2 late

If I am not mistaken radar jammers are illegal in most countries, including this one.

Re: Radar/laser detectors

AS I read reviews on the best of the radar detectors for 2012, two keep coming up, Escort Passport 9500ix and Valentine1. The Escort has many more features and the valentine seems to do what it does well. Both seem to have excellent reviews so my question, Is this one of those situations where you can't go wrong with either or am I missing something?

Secondly I do not want to suction or put anything on my windshield. Where are other places you can put them and by not putting it in the windshield does it detract from its effectiveness? Thanks!

The higher the placement the better. I personally think radar companies say lower is better so you get caught. Mine is right below my rear view mirror so my rear radar can pick up. I thought the valentine had a clip for sun visors. I read somewhere that one of the good ones had it. I can't remember :/

Re: Radar/laser detectors

My local car shop said they can install a K40 that detects lasers and radar. They said it can be integrated into my car, so they display can be inside my dash. Seemed pretty cool, it was only $1200 though. lol

Re: Radar/laser detectors

A clip for a visor would certainly work for me.

Nice but surprisingly the $1200 would be an issue for me

Radar Jammers are illegal laser are not. Interestingly enough I read up on them. And the FDA regulates light, the FCC regulates sound waves.

But laser Jammers are out lawed in several states. The whole thing was a huge pitch for some purple product. I'm like no way in hell I'm putting it on my car.

Nifty try. I've been pulled over doing that. And I had the crappy cobra too.

And hospitals. Even the nice 2-300 dollar ones do it. Always use H for highway. C for City. Never use A for auto if you have it like mine. It switches randomly and doesn't give a good range or reading.

Re: Radar/laser detectors

Check the laws in States around your area. For example, radar detectors are ILLEGAL in Virginia.
