4.6 Romeo or 4.6 Windsor

I have been shopping around trying to consider what I want to do with my car. Since it was my first Mustang I am going to keep it and motor swap it. I was looking online and have found salvage yards with the 4.6 liter engines for a little over a thousand dollars. However I know if I bought one of those I would want to rebuild it anyways with forged internals so I could put a Supercharger on it.

Then I began looking for 4.6 liter blocks and came across two versions. One of the Romeo and the other is the Windsor. So my question is... what is the difference and what were each of them used in?

I am assuming one is for the Mach 1 and the other is for the GT. The Cobra blocks are different altogether and the Cobras before 03-04 were aluminum. I could be completely off on my guess but if you know you can either respond here or message me on AIM - juggaloninjalee

strangely in the newer f150s the 2 engines have 2 different sizes of oil filters.

Re: 4.6 Romeo or 4.6 Windsor

uh my dad's 06 5.4 uses the same filter as my 03GT and my buddy's 01 explorer (5.0)... which i think is the same as my sisters explorer sport...

I will help you with this one, as my 01 cobra had a teksid block:

Ford Mustang SVT Cobra - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Teksid is better than WAP. WAP is a crappy block and was ended in the 99 cobra year.
