My brother just bought a 1997 mustang gt and all he can really think about is speed and horse power. He says he wants to put a ford expedition engine in his mustang because its a 5.0 liter engine which is better than his 4.6. But im thinking that a truck engine isn't built for speed but its built for towing or tourque. Should he just leave the stock engine in rather than a truck engine?
yea your 4.6 is faster , truck engines usually have les valves per cylinder for increased torque for towing. This also takes away horsepower. the 4.6 has 3 valves to breathe better. Keep the engine and modifiy it if you want more power. The 4.6 modular V8 adapts to mods really well.
Save the Expedition. It is a very rare vehicle, since it is apparently the ONLY 5.0L Expedition ever!!!!!! (The Expedition came out in 1997, and there was NO 5.0 option in the Expedition. EVER. ) Tell your little brother to quit wasting his time swapping engines and have someone who knows what they are talking about do an upgrade to his 4.6........
Forget it. There's plenty of mods available for the 2V 4.6. The Ranger truck motor is tuned for torque, not HP. Spend your money on a CAI, new chip, new throttle body, 2 1/2" exhaust w/low restriction cats, underdrive pulleys, etc.
yes u can but there going need some chage to the car

as far the 4.6 (281ci) is not as good as the 5.0 (302ci) 5.0 has more aftermarket part b/c of the year it was made from 1962-1996 where the 4.6 has been around for 17 years 1991-2009. it may be out of truck but all u have to do chage the heads to mustang HO head and u have mustang engine 4.6 can not be bored and stroker out past (5.1) the 5.4 has taller deck hight in were the 302 can be bored in stroker out to 347ci (5.7)
go to 5.0 better moter in long run
