1. Chevy HHR
2. Mini cooper
3. Scion xB
4. Chevy Cobalt XFE
5. Chrysler PT cruiser
6. Ford Mustang GT
7. Dodge charger R/T

all 2009 models. looking to buy a new car just don't know what is better all around. low maintenance, MPG and quality.

best MPG would be the Mini Cooper. Best combination of MPG and quality would be the Scion, since it is essentially Toyota.

BUT, since you have ruled out the Scion, then I would go with the PT Cruiser or the Mustang. The PT is made by Mitsubishi, and is on par in terms of reliability with the Mustang, but neither will get near as good MPG as the Mini or Scion, nor will either be as trouble free as the Scion.

Lastly, have you considered a Honda Fit? Or are you anti-Honda, too?

Well mustangs just suck, the charger has a high MPG n the quality is pretty bad, the chevy's are good in MPG but i own a chevy and they dnt last too long, i personally dnt like the pt cruiser, so i'd say your best bet is the scion or the mini coop. I've never drove a mini coop but scion's are pretty nice. Both good with MPG, the scion seems to be a good quality too. Plus the scion is pretty sporty n roomy than the mini coop.

I can't speak for the others but I have a mini cooper (got it for my 16th b-day) and it's awesome. It's real nice and has great MPG and I've had no problems with it at all. It makes you feel short though. Go with whatever you like, but I suggest the cooper.

Scion xB is low mant. and good MPG, plus its pretty sporty, alot of the others are taxable upon purchase due to bad economic standards and high emissions.

The Mini has the best mileage, and the build quality is the same as BMW (who makes the Mini)
