Decisions? jeep/ford/..help?

i have the chance to trade my 188,000 miles 94 jeep cherokee 4x4 for a 1996 ford mustang GT....
so i love my jeep but if i get the mustang i can sell it (it has a way higher resell value then my jeep) and i can use the money to buy an even better jeep cherokee with lower miles.
neither of the cars have any problems.

help me make my decision.

You can look up the values here:
http://www.kbb.com
It looks like the mustang would be worth about twice what the jeep is,(Even though the Jeep is WAY better)
So if you want to go through all the trouble of trading and selling you could probably do Ok. The jeep will probably go for another 120k without any major problems, but you will have to start replacing things like the starter and alternator as they wear out, so you should factor that into your decision. Also, you may not like the design of the later Cherokees, so test one out first.
Good luck!

Define a "Better" Jeep? Do you mean Newer?

You sound like my daughter. She loves her 4x4 Tacoma, but she also likes driving a car that handles like a car should, so I can see the appeal of this deal beyond the monetary values and possibilities.

Then there's the Time factor of selling the Mustang and finding another Jeep in good condition.

So, is the goal truly a better Jeep or just to drive something different for a while?

If the goal is a Better Jeep, I would suggest buying a few months worth of 4x4 and Jeep specificly mags. for up grades and custom/after market parts to make your Jeep a much better Jeep. You will also be able to find info on Jeep Jamboree's, trail clubs and groups in your area.

Have Fun and Good Luck.

well, why get rid of your perfectly good jeep, to get a mustang, sell it......hopefully for a profit just to turn around and buy another jeep that could have all kinds of problems you dont know about. remember, jeep stands for Just Empty Every Pocket! i own 2 i should know. but they are both great jeeps with little problems. i say keep the old girl!

Sorry, but unless the Mustang has rebuilt everything, it has no resale value either, but it is ten times more likely to crap out than the Jeep, and much more expensive to fix when it does break.

Do it.

If you do trade, sell the Mustang ASAP, do not keep it for a while. Sell it while you can and buy another Jeep with less miles.
