Right now I have a 1992 mustang GT. Is it comparable? I know its only a 4 cylinder car but I want a car that has good pick up and torque.

I've driven both, the 2002 and up 1.8Ts are going to be about as fast stock as a 92 GT. You can install nothing besides a $500 chip in any 1.8T 2000-2005 and it will be noticeably quicker than your current 92 GT.

Well, one nice way to find that is to take advantage of a car performance simulator, there you can run several virtual tests, that are for you, not for a magazine driver that maybe does not even weight the same as you for instance.

Run performance tests and decide, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com

The rule of thumb was that a 2 litre turbo had the same performance as a normally aspirated 3 litre car, which was the reason they were built in Europe. All Turbo car have turbo lag although these days it is fairly minimal.I think you will be pleasantly surprised.

About the same as a 3.0V6 NA. Does 8.5secs to 60mph from zero. 155ft lbf at 1,750rpm so it has good low down response around town. about 28mpg. Compare it to your 92 mustang GT that I don't know the stats or specs to

If you want torque, then you must find a Vr6.
