Would this be a direct drop engine into my 1997 XR-7 Cougar?

Mine already has a 4.6 V-8 but puts out only 205hp where this 1997 Mustang engine same 4.6 except DOHC,mine is SOC.This puts 300hp out which would be pretty noticeable difference. My 205hp is okay i just want more.So would this be a direct drop thanks.

1997 FORD MUSTANG SPECS

I have no idea what you talk about, since the 1997 Mustang GT is only 225 HPs (the DOHC is not direct drop), it was until 1999 where Ford upgrade to 260 HPs (for the SOHC) after some improvements.

If you want to do improvements to your car, you can use a car performance simulator to virtually tune it, you can even do a virtual swap to find the results, try at http://www.nxgtrsim.com
