Is a foxbody GT mustang or a 2002-2004 mustang Gt's better?

I currently own a fox body mustang but am thinking of trading up to a newer mustang. As far as ride quality and reliability. which one is better? I want to be able to drive daily and for long distances. I don't feel that I can do that with my fox body. Fix up the fox body or trade up? and why?

Stock vs. stock the New Edge cars are noticeably quicker. But the older fox body cars are significantly cheaper to modify. The automatics in both cars blunt the performance somewhat.

Actually, all Mustang's from 1979 to 2004 were built on the same chassis, they are all "Fox-body" cars. The '94-'04 chassis was tweaked and stiffened up a bit so it handles better and has less flex than the older models. The mod motor's are more reliable imo than the old iron block 5.0's, but they lack bottom end power so it's a trade-off as far as I'm concerned. Also, the older 5.0L is easier to work on and there are tons of aftermarket parts available for them, and are generally cheaper to build than the 4.6L mod-motor. As for transmissions, my '04 GT has a Tremec (TR3650) 5 speed which is much better than the old T-5 top-loader that Ford used on earlier 5.0's. I've only owned and driven 5 and 6 speed manual transmission Mustangs, so I couldn't help you on the automatics, but the old AOD Fords were pretty decent.

Fox body's are just ugly. Im sorry but they are. They where hot when they came out but there is nothing nice about them. I would get a 02-04 GT in a heart beat.

I gotta agree with the previous answer, get the 04 gt and you won't look back.
