Painting them will provide good contrast making the wheels 'pop' better.. Food for thought, most high end cars with the highest grade brakes have yellow calipers..

I wouldn't paint them black, they will just get lost and that'd defeat the purpose IMO.. Do red.
Just be sure to spend LOTS of time on the prep.. When painting ANYTHING it's all about the prep!!!!!!

I look at caliper color as separate from the test of the color scheme of a car, being that the color of said color represents the level of brake quality which leads back to my original statement. Meaning no matter what color a Ferrari is or a Lambo or Porsche is the caliper color is the color that represents which brake package the car is sporting.. I'd bet the red will look fine. Do some searches with google images or Bing images and you can likely pull up some pics of light blue cars(all makes) with calipers of any color you want.

I know you don't like blue and yellow so maybe silver? But here is some food for thought.

Has anyone tried to powder coat the calipers instead of brush/spray painting?

Are you going to paint your calipers red? I do like your rims a lot, but not so sure about the red lugs... IMO

I just got it put in and I haven't had a wash it rain yet. Other than that I'm not sure how water would get in there
