Used purchased mustang warranty question

I bought a used 2012 mustang back in december. I recently noticed some corrosion bubbling on my hood. Look all over the internet and cant find anything explaining what exactly is covered in the 5 year warranty. I thought id ask here before calling ford monday. Local body shop said it would cost $400 to fix a bubble the size of a quater since the whole hood would need to be clear coated again. Anyone know how the warranties work..

I doubt they'll do anything on a used car. Warranties on used cars are like 30 or 90 days and limited at that. "Certified pre owned" are different. But straight used, you are own your own most likely.

Kinda figured that. I was told awhile back that ford had some issues with deposits getting onto the hood prior to being painted but, not sure how far that investigation went. Thanks for your information

I always thought a used car kept whatever remained of the manufacturer warranty that was left from the previous owner, unless they voided it with modifications.. But I guess not..

It seems I stand corrected. Yahoo auto and ehow both indicate fords warranty is fully transferable. This didn't used to be the case years ago. That is very cool and really adds to keeping the value of the car when selling it while under warranty.

My biggest thing is ive only had the car for 3 months and what ive been told is the corrision warranty is only good for rust that perferates the hood or effected panel. I was given a quote of $400 to fix it but i could buy my new and better hood for that money
