care issue

I have a 2012 base model v6 convertible. This morning while driving to work doing 70 mph on the highway my car bogged out dropping to 500 rpm's and wouldn't accelerate which then the engine wrench light came on. I pulled over and it started idling from 200 rpm's to 5000 rpm's. I shut it off and restarted the car and it was fine for the remainder 2 miles to work. Does anyone know what the issue could be?

My understanding is the newer cars don't have a throttle cable is like a virtual TB and by restarting the car it reset the system...
