My question is does the miles go up of how many the car actually goes or does it follow the speedometer? Like the years being changed out saying u do 40 more mpg does this mean its adding more miles?

I believe the speedometer goes by tire rotation and the odometer goes by the speedometer

Ouch so that means its putting more miles if gears are off and it's not tuned :/

The miles being put on are inaccurate. So a tune is crucial. Id just get a handheld where you can input the correct gear ratio

The previous owner was dumb. There's no way of knowing the true mileage and either way its illegal to alter the odometer so you're stuck with inaccurate mileage
