Ford ranger, s10, dakota or tacoma?

I'm looking for a daily driver. Two things, I want two doors, small bed, and decent gas mileage. The only kicker is that I don't want to spend more than $2500 on it lol. What do you guys think? Is it possible to find a decent little truck for that price? My lightning and mustang are becoming more like toys and I need something I'm not going to be tempted to turn into a race car lol. Which brand is best in your opinion?

If you aren't set on a full truck bed I'd get a 4runner. I got mine for 5k. Recently decided to turn it into a boat tho, don't ask... Just bought a motor for 1.5k with 30k miles to swap in it tho. Car itself had 240k miles on it. Really reliable.

That's double what in wanting to spend, but I'll see if any are cheaper. I'm wanting a daily that is reliable but I don't have to care about in terms of cosmetics, or putting a lot of miles on

Ranger. My best friend has one he bought for $500. 1992 5 speed and now has 250k miles on it. Has had it for 6 years, only tires and oil in it. This is slow as a Prius in reverse tho. S10 is pretty reliable too. 4.3 is a strong lil engine. I would never even look at a dodge product,

I've been looking for a deal like that! I want something I can rack up miles and not feel like I'm going to have to keep up with expensive repairs.

I have a 580rwhp lightning and a soon to be full bolt on 5.0. So I am not really worried about it being fast or powerful either. Just mainly a A-B with an occasional need for the bed.

Having said that, I've driven a s10 before and that 4.3 makes alot of power for that little truck. I kinda like them.

Craigslist is where it is at for a beater truck. Not gonna find a deal at the stealership. Ever check out gov deals? Auctions on used gov vehicles and seized items. I see rangers and s10s on there time to time.

I have not ever even heard of that, but I will look into it. I'll buy one from where ever I can get my hands on it lol.

You should get an s10 extreme package, love them. But there alittle more pricey.

Tacoma is the best light truck. If they're too costly, the others all kinda stink. 2.3 rangers are super reliable with 5 speeds but have NO balls. Don't get a Dakota, Dodge cant wire a light bulb without it becoming a huge issue at some point. Just my .02

If I was to get any of the small truck I would go with the Toyota. I've had a ranger but it was nothing compared to one of my friends tacomas. Between running forever and what you can do with them wouldn't be a hard pick for me

Yeah I can't find any toyotas in a decent price range at all. I wanted one with that 22r motor in it, but those are more expensive that the newer trucks. I'm not looking for anything with balls. I'll pull stuff with the lightning if I need balls.. I'm just looking for a A-B truck. People don't like selling their extremely used vehicles at good prices though

If your looking for something pretty cheap go for a Jimmy or a Blazer. The 4.3 vortec is decent in gas.
