Laguna Seca lap times.

All times come from Motortrend, all times set by the same person - Randy Pobst.

13 Boss 302 LS - 1:43.00
08 GTR - 1:40.45
12 ZL1 Camaro - 1:39.18
13 Shelby GT 500 - 1:38.7
14 C7 Z51 - 1:38.28
11 GTR - 1:36.35
11 C6 Z06 with optional Pilot Sport Cup ZP - 1:34.43

Most cars of this class (front engine RWD) typically gain around 3 seconds a lap with sport cup tires. No idea what the GTR could do with sticky tires.

Z51 puts up a good show but considering it's within a second of the GT500 and ZL1 Camaro, I would go Z06 with good tires.

The new stingray is almost as quick on the track as the ZR1 which is amazing considering the Hp difference but it is a new platform.

If the stingray is as good as the z06 then I will have a very hard time deciding between the two...
Are you sure that the ability for your wife to drive is a +? HAHAHA JK :p

If you like being fast then gt500 blower swap the only way. We have a few people that run with us that have them. One has a 13 gt500 with boltons/ pulley/tune. Not really that quick compared to some of us. Only one that is is a 08gt500 that our budy andreas has with a 4.0 whipple.

---------- Post added at 09:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:26 PM ----------

Im just stock on straight line performance always have been. Thats why I say get the vette. C7 < c6 z06. But that is a hard choice. But for the price of a fully loaded c7 out here you can get a used zr1

True you can get a used ZR1 but the stingray looks WAY better way more exciting to look at , supercharge the Stingray and it will DESTROY a ZR1 , plus the car is 57 percent stiffer due to aluminum frame it's light years ahead of the ZR1. Thanks to the frame, the new car will have “an optimal 50/50 front/rear weight balance but there is no doubt Chevy will eventually produce a superchared ZR1 style car on the new platform the only question is when.

The only problem with buying the Stingray is that it will just be another Corvette in a few years time, where at least the Z06 will be a little rarer. And how could you argue with a 7.0L. I'm just glad that I'm not making this decision because I wouldn't be able to. At least no matter what you do you will have an excellent car.

I think it's just short of 100k (don't quote me on that), and then the GTS is about 120k.

For 100 k the new viper is a good deal , non supercharged so no problem with the engine overheating lap after lap like the zr1 plus it's FASTER go all out and buy the SRT TA 120k and you have the fastest production machine every built for track racing.

Track Pack

the new SRT Viper TA is quicker around Laguna Seca than any Ferrari, Porsche, Lamborghini, McLaren, or Corvette ZR 1 That's the very definition of world-beater.

There will not be a twin turbo Z06 from the factory. ZR1 maybe, Z06 will stay NA.

There is no room for turbos. Also, after upgrading the LS3 to an LT1, why wouldn't they do the same for the LS7?

There is plenty of room for turbos. They do not have to be under the hood.

I'm sure a NEW ZR1 is also in the pipelines with the new platform likely in the 700+ Hp range most likely supercharged again.

Well u guys will not believe this lol
My final decision is buying a convertible 335i BMW till the new c7 Z06 comes.
I don't want a stingray because it is just a base corvette and I will kill myself when the z06/zr1 comes out and z06 c6 is just old and the gtr is auto so I will get bored during DD. The wife loves the idea and I do too because I never own a convertible :p call me gay lol
