1996 explorer v8 5.0

Just wandering if that year had gt40 heads ? I could buy that explorer for 1500 $ take it home and get all i need heads intake tb maf and all i need !
Is it a good deal and what else i ll have to do ? It has 160000 miles !
If i do that i am good or i need to spend money on other stuff ?
I just need ur advice tks guys !

I would say try to look for a totaled one that has less miles on the engine and just take what you need. Instead of paying 1500 bucks for the whole car. For 1500 bucks i would look into full kits from trick flow or etc...

Check out eBay and cl you can probably find the whole set up for 500-800. The more money you spend the better you get man some are polished and painted.etc then money you save doing this you could buy a cam and throw it in there when you have everything apart.

96 is a 1st generation model which will have regular GT40 heads. And $1500 I hope they include a vat of KY for the pounding your *** is going to take at that price.

You should be spending $400-$500 MAX on getting a fresh set of GT40s and $150 for the intake. Bolt them right on and leave your stock cam alone and you are golden. You'll need a few other things like new pushrods/gaskets/whatever but that's the gist of it.
