Need you guys opinions

So I'm on the search for a daily driver beater car just for work. I found a 95 Pontiac Grand Prix. It has 151k on it with a 3.8L v6. It's automatic, body an paint are decent, its maroon, with new tires and the ac works. The only negative I can see this far is that the stickers are expired. They only want 1k for it, what should I do?

Can get a 240sx with the ka24. Decent on gas. And a good bit of an aftermarket world for them if you ever decide to mod it.

Lol I'm not looking for something else to mod. I have a procharged truck, a lightning, and a 5.0 lol. I just want a POS to commute 100 miles a day in.

No I don't, just a simple inspection is all. The car books for 1300 with 10k more miles in great condition. This one is maybe a 6-7 out of 10

Oh ok not bad. Well as long as it drives good. I bought a 96 corolla for the same purpose of saving gas and having a beater, payed 600 bucks needed a tuneup so another 100 bucks. So offer 800 and go from there.

Well I'm testing it out today at 2:30pm so we shall see. It's in a accurate price range considering mileage and age. I might try to talk them down initially simply because I'll have to update the stickers

That I do! Only a couple hours and I will know. I'm a little iffy on switching the title over, but if I can get the current owner to go with me when I go maybe that will help. I don't want to pay near full price and find out its salvage title, buyback, or something of that nature after the fact

Well I went a test drove the car and it drove great. Ac was ice cold, heater works fine, and brakes were solid. Tires are fairly new like they said. The bad is that the paint is pretty faded in areas, but I planned on plastidipping the whole car anyways. The interior is a little rough as far as the dash is cracked all over and the floor board was kinda dirty. Guy said he would take $800 for it, with a clear title on hand.

I told the guy I would give the guy the final word tonight around 630 or so whether or not I would buy it. The engine was pretty clean for having 154k on it. The oil was at the proper level but it was black which you would expect out of a 154k engine especially considering I don't know if it has been changed very recently. The side of the engine block was very clean and it left no leaks on the ground I could see. The only build up I could find was around the PCV tube and it looked like it had been building up awhile

Those are my favorite grand prix models. The only pita issue I know of is the outside door handles break.

Well both of the door handles are working just fine.. For now lol! I have to agree though that it's a sporty looking car. I'm going to paint it matte blue with black accents to get rid of the sunburnt maroon.

Offered him $750 as a final offer and he took it. Car drove 60 miles home with no issues. Passenger window track needs work, needs a turn signal switch, and need to install brand new plug wires it came with but so far so good! Insurance is $23 a month lol

Keep an eye on the window motors. They are notorious for taking a crap. I had a 97 Grand Prix wide trac with the 3800 and loved it. Little different body style though. All but 1 window went out on me (4dr) and it was the motor in every one.

The passenger side window will roll down about half way then fall foreward off the track. Think it just needs another track? The driver side goes down and up fine sometimes and sticks other times

That's exactly what I'm talking about. It's not off the track it's the actuator or motor. Mine did the same thing on the driver side like it was off the track then the passenger side went....then the rear drivers side went. Then........I got rid of it,lol.

Haha! So basically the window falling down inside of the door could be just the motor also? I have already hunted down two motors on fleabay for $30, so I might get those

I'm 100% convinced the engineers at GM were either drunk or completely ignorant when they designed this car. Had to completely pull out the steering column, air bag, and ignition to get to the freakin turn signal switch which was broken(new was $58). THEN to fix the gas guage I had to completely drop the gas tank out to find that the float was completely missing from the fuel sending unit. They only sell the floats in a complete assembly so I had to buy that too @$75. Still have less than $1000 in the car and my girlfriend has helped alot. The interior is really clean now minus the dash cracks and worn spots in the drivers carpet. Oh well, starts right up and drives great. The AC is really cold and I can't figure out why it's so cold. It makes my 5.0s ac seem like it's weak honestly.

Just wait till you have to change the serpentine belt. You have to pull the motor or jack it up to get it done. Have fun.

Haha I'm excited! I had a 04 Grand Prix for a whole summer when I was in high school before my uncle borrowed/totaled it and I never had to do anything serious but it wasn't hard to work on. This car seems like it was designed backwards lol.

Got the gas guage working finally! And now I have full use of blinkers, horn.. Yada yada yada lol! I'm happy now. Went and filled her up and it only cost $31! Eager to see how many miles I can go on it. Struts are next!
