Well, if dunno about you, but i consider two ways of doing this. Quick shifting, and powershifting. With quick shifting, i take my foot completely off the gas, clutch, put in gear. With power shifting, which i rarely do, i do not let off the gas completely or at all. How new are you to stick?

ahh! Very nice. I would focus on getting your shifts down clean, and being very precise with your shifts, and the motions of your shifts before quick shifting or powershifting. You don't want to jam it in gear too hard, or release the clutch too early while still trying to engage the gear. Once you've got all that down, you can experiment with different techniques. I took am fairly new to stick. Just under a year driving stick, but less than 3,000 miles.

Agreed...powershifting is hard on alot of parts and can easily screw alot up. Just focus on finding gears quickly.

If I were you I would wait 6 months before you go crazy grinding gears.

Just worry about learning to drive first

Power shifting u have to shift a bit before redline else papapapapapa

You'll learn. Keep the foot partially on the gas peddle and shift fast and right as you are letting go of the clutch or a split second floor the gas to blip the rpm near redline. Ur foot should be partially on the gas to keep the rpm from falling and blipping it right before engagement will put u higher on the engines power band. Unless u have a stock manifold then.... Fk it that too much to discuss in this thread

When I'm racing I never let off the gas I put the pedal to the floor and leave it and I'll just tap the clutch real fast as I slam it in gear really fast. I had very consistent times 10.55 to like a 10.68 seemed to work for me except for the fact I had to replace my 3rd gear synchro 2 times and I've lost a 3-4 shift fork pin so I had no 3rd or 4th gear before to. I just quite power shifting unless it's like an important race or I wanna see what my car will run with a new mod or something.

Here's how I power shift with the MT82, full throttle to 3/4 throttle back to full throttle, seems to go into gear easier with less chance of being locked out in the Mustang. I think the clutch is the main reason for this.

In the Z28, as long as I'm not spraying I never lift. Just tap the clutch and slam the Tremec into gear and show it who's boss. I love a built T56.
