I currently own a 2000 v6 mustang. Is there anyone out there who has done a similar swap 5,0 or otherwise? I'm trying to see what all is involved in it and possibly a rough pricing. Any and all advice is welcome ( new to the world of engine swaps)
I had this idea too. I actually had a thread going for a little. But essentially yeah it can be done. But in my opinion it's not really worth it. Purchasing the engine and ecu is a pretty penny. As well as the install, drivetrain mods, and other odds and ends. I love the concept but it's just not really cost effective. Especially with this new 5.0 coming out and the new 6 putting out 300+hp. You'd be almost better off just trading up to a gt or a new 6. But in the end it's your decision and your money. Personally I'd love to see the swap done and see what it took.
I had the 4.0 2010 model for about 9months and now I've got a 13 3.7. Now a days you can find a decent gt on craigslist for under 10g. I've been looking at that recently. I'm likening the look of your 6. I wouldn't get rid of it. That's a real ba car in mu opinion. Run your turbos. I'm gonna get a helion eventually.
Nice, yeah I really haven't dabbled into the car modding until recently. So all these ideas I'm having I'm not even sure what all I need for each option. I'm figuring that boreing my engine out and adding the turbo would be easiest and cheapest.
Not necessarily. Turbos can be pricey and so can engine work because you'll most likely need to retune your computer. I'm going with some bolt ins for now. But I know a lot of them will have to go away when force induction is added. I say if you're just getting into it start with small things under the hood to see how even small gains feel. So you don't get in over your head with maybe to much hp(even though it is a v6). Also it'll get you more familiar with your car
