Need an answer!

I'm about to install my o/r x. My moms worried that I'll get pulled over. My setup will be 2 chambers with o/r x. Will I have any problems with the law?

Does NC have emissions testing? And what exhaust are you running?

The off road pipe is illegal then, doesn't have cats, is the X pipe the only exhaust mod?

Not for that unless the exhaust is too loud, cops wouldn't know it's not catted, is that the only exhaust mod? Usually cops won't pull you for exhaust unless it's ridiculous, or the cops an a**. So really the only problem is that the X pipe doesn't have cats, so to pass emissions if NC does have testing, you would need to reinstall the factory H pipe.

NC does have emisions testing, I just moved from the Goldsboro area. you have to have it tested every year in order to get a new car tag, you can get pulled over and if they decide to look you can get a fine. If you aren't worried about that then just keep the old stuff and put it on when its time for you to renew your car tag. Or if you know a inspector then you should be good

This is unless they have done away with the emissions testing.

Yeah, if the cops decide to crawl under and look, your getting a ticket for illegal equipment.

Cops don't know if an exhaust system is catted or not. And they aren't going to check either. The biggest issue with exhaust systems are being illegally loud (which is a surprisingly difficult thing to do unless you floor it in second right next to a patrol car).

If its only sound then no worries, I've heard some pretty loud cars around that area. Like they said, just don't floor it in front of a cop.

But they do have emissions testing each year.

So basically, your good with the pipe until testing, then you would need to reinstall the H pipe.

I have been going catless for about 5 years in a county that requires testing. I have had zero problems with passing because my county just requires a plug in test and I have MIL eliminators. I also have had zero issues with cops regarding how loud my car is, and it is loud. I have shorty headers, o/r x, and magnapacks so it is not quiet. Like I said, zero issues.

IIRC they do have a sniffer, little pipes or sensors they stick into your tailpipes right?
