First Road trip

Hello

Charleston to Charlotte and back.

So my 2011 V-6. Averaged 25 mpg which is great as compared to my F250 with a V-10 but nothing near 30 mpg.

Average cruising speed 80 mph.

The car ran great and I am excited to own it.

Just purchased this car two weeks ago and it has 22000 miles on it.

Ideas?

Is it a 2.73 or 3.31? Idk if this is correct or not but I've heard that highway mpg is taken at around 60 mph. When you start going higher is when It drops off a little. I've noticed that in my wife's car when traveling to Orlando at 70 it wasn't bad but from 75 to 80 it dropped a little bit.

Best for most cars is at 55. I just got my '14 yesterday in Virginia and driving back to Connecticut I averaged 28.9. I was going about 70 most of the way...not by choice, but due to traffic. That's including the couple of "delay's" on the beltway.

Hello

My wife drove on the way to Charlotte and averaged about 79 mph and I drove home and did hit a stretch of 90-95. I had a Mustang GT and a Chevy truck running as a wolfpack so I just tagged along for about 30 miles..

Yeah, that will kill the mpg's in a hurry. I find with the mustang that I can be cruising at 80-85 and it feels like 65-70. The car rides nice and smooth.

Yep. Slow down a little and your mpg will increase a little.

Engine power literally increases exponentially as speed increases. You use a helluva lot more fuel at 95 as compared to 55 (which is the speed Ford and other companies used to find their hwy mpg ratings).
