Favorite previous car you have owned

I was talking to a friend over the weekend about some of the vehicles we have owned and if we could have one of them back, which would it be.

I thought about it, and decided it would have to be my old 1999 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG.

I absolutely loved that car. It was very well built, comfortable, rode well, was fast, *reliable* (why I parted with it, explained later). It was everything that a great car should be.

I had the car for just over a year.

The car ran a 13.3 @ 108, not bad for a car that weighs 4,000 lbs and only is rated at 350 hp and 391 lb ft.

The strangest thing about driving that car was how people treated you. It was odd. Once most people saw that it was my car, they became subservient, like I was better than them even though I treated them no different than I had before or since. Also, the car was a panty dropper, the ladies loved the switchblade key and big smokey burnouts through first and second gear.

I ended up selling the car because I couldn't get it to start. No idea why, just one day wouldn't start.

Well, to make a long story short, I replaced the key fob with a new fob from MB that I ordered online. I took the guts from the old key and put it into the new one.

Car started and worked fine. Then the next day, it didn't. I never put much thought into this until I sold the car to a friend for exactly what I had in it. He took the car to an MB dealership and they diagnosed that the car thought it had been stolen and disabled the fuel injectors. Apparently, when you replace the key fob on an MB, even with swapping the guts out, you still have to get the key reprogrammed. This cost my friend $450 for the reprogramming and disabling the theft mode.

Pictures of the mobile.

My salute to the mobile while trying to diagnose the key fob issue. Notice how far the hood opens up. It was nice.

Loved the headlights ..

Last one ..

So .. out of all the vehicles that you have previously owned, which would you like to have back?

Mercedes?!?!??!!?? Who are you Ish?

Let's see, I don't think that I miss any of my old cars enough to want them back. There was a truck though... A 1979 Chevy K10 short bed 4X4. I really liked that truck and it was NICE! I spent several years tricking it out just how I wanted it. I sold it to buy my first house.
Every time that I see one now, I kinda wish that I had kept it. Then I remember all of the issues that those trucks had (cracked frames, doors falling off, etc.) and it eases the pain a bit...

Believe it or not, that was a one owner car that had 68,000 miles on it when I bought it for $4,300.

The previous owner (who was a friend, of a friend, of a friend) bought the car for his then ex-wife, he owned a construction company that specialized in office tower plumbing or something. Then the tsunami hit Japan in 2011, his company was contracted out for the next several years to go over there and help rebuild and fix things. He was liquidating everything he owned to just move over there.

He had that Benz, a 2009 or 2010 Escalade truck, an M5 with the V10/DSG, he had several motorcycles including a 400+whp turbo Hayabusa and a turbo Harley V-Rod. I think he was asking like $15,000 for the Escalade and $18,000 for the M5. Had I known about the other vehicles, I would have dropped by the bank first and snagged a loan and resold them for a nice profit.

Have to go with my 2005 Chrysler 300. Couple reasons. First, I did love the car. Custom grille, sound system and rims but most of all it was the first car I just bought what I wanted (within reason) I finally got to a point where I was making a pretty good living and I wanted one... so i got it. As much as the car (which I did love) for me it was about what I had accomplished, where I had gone from to where I was, pride really.

My 2013 GT is my favorite car ever and loved my 2011 until it was totaled. BUT my 1976 Monte carlo with a stock 350 4 barrel and no hood, rigged toggle switch head lights, no head liner, rusted everywhere and no radio was probably a to the 300. Why... obvious... it was my first. They always say you never forget your first.

Favorite previous car you have owned

My only other car I've had, a 2000 Mustang convertible. My mom bought it used in 2002 and decided to give it to me when I got my drivers license. I know this may sound like I was spoiled, but I was seriously looking at getting an old fox body, she wouldn't have it. I loved that car in high school, everyone would always want to take my car or go cruising with the top down (ladiessss). I had plans to mod it up, but once I got into the car crowd I realized there was no point. Ha. I ended up putting 17" chrome bullitts (came with cobra center caps...), smoked headlights, grille delete, a foolish looking crazy horse decal on the sides, CAI, and Flowmaster 40's on it. I had that car for a good 11 years and only 3 things went wrong with it: clutch went out in 2010, rear driver side brake seized and fuel filler neck rusted out in 2011. It was hard getting rid of her last year, miss riding with the top down some days, is there anyway to see where a car went?

Here is my last pic with her at the dealership last year.

I'd love to have my 1980 Porsche 911SC back but if I could shoehorn a Coyote into it, that'd be the cats meow!

My 1988 BMW 528i. Was the last of the box style 5s. Car was black with a sunroof, five speed and so fun to drive.

My grand marquis. I miss that car so much. I got it for 1200 and it lasted me almost 2 years with just routine maintenance. I got my license with that car and had some fun times plus I felt badass cause I challenged everyone. I would give my sixxer back for that car

This is tough for me, because I think my favorite vehicle was my motorcycle, but I digress. Prepare for a wall of text.

I'd have to say my 1986 MR2. One of the previous owners had swapped in a stock MR2 engine of a different year that made a whopping 130hp (compared to the 110hp of the original). It had a full race exhaust and sounded mean, not empty like the fart-can Hondas. I flew a buddy and myself to Atlanta, GA to buy it. We both had to work the next day and decided to buy the car on the spot, right after getting off the plane and drive it 16 hours straight back home. We got there and the car had bald tires, blown struts, no parking brake, failing A/C, had rear-ended someone and lost the front bumper and the bumper support was nightmarishly welded back together.

You tend to fall in love with a car when doing something like this.

The weekend after I got back was Blacktop Nationals. I heard these cars could handle, so I showed up for the short track auto-x event with $10 for 2 runs. The track designer was there and he just so happened to have a MINT 1985 MR2 he had restored. He told me, nose in air, that he had run a 38 second lap. My first run out, I had him waxed by a whole 3 seconds. I finished my second run and immediately went home and got more money. When I came back, there was a brand new 2010 Porsche Boxster S killing cones. The quickest time he managed was 32sec with a +2 penalty for murdering a cone, so 34. I was the next one out and ran a 33 with no cone penalty. That was the moment I decided this was a keeper.

I put BC Racing coil overs on it the next week and never raced it again, lol. I ended up selling it last summer with 500k on the clock. The valve seals had finally gone, the old rubber suspension needed reworking thanks to the pounding it was taking from the stiff coil overs, and the rubber vacuum lines had finally been cracked to the point of throwing the computer way off and limiting me to 55mph.

And this was her as she drove away =[

For a short period of time, I had a '04 Cobra. Car was a lot of fun with just an upper pulley, mid-pipe, and K&N cone filter attached to the stock intake. I ended up selling the car to squash some college school loans and start a new built with my '95 GT. I've had the '95 GT since I was 15 and don't plan on ever selling it. Just keep building new projects with it!

A previous favorite was my '93 SHO that I got in '98. Fast car at the time. My current mustang is my all time favorite though. Not my pic but same car.

I had a 2000 Pontiac Bonneville for my first car. At 17 I got a 2006 Civic SI. So previous cars the best was the Civic SI by far, but it is nothing compared to my GT.

99 Eclipse. I got the base model used for a steal. LOVED that car, except for the engine dying around 85k miles. That sucked, but it's why I now have the Mustang.

I have owned / still own a 2006 Mustang GT, 2005 GrandPrix, 2004 Mustang GT, and used to own a 1996 Monte Carlo Z34!.. The Monte is the only one I don't have now!.. So I guess that's the one I'd have to pick!.. Lol. But if I could have it back I would!.. It was a white over tan, very comfortable, and an all around fun car for a DD!.. I tinted the windows, put on a Cat Back and CAI on it, and gave it a customs tune!.. Also lowered it 1,1/2 inches!.. But my most favorite is my '04 GT!..
