1971 Mach 1 restoration

Hey guys, don't really post much but my dad, brother and I are interested in a restoration project. First some background:

This was my dad's first car at 16 years old. It was a cherry red 1971 Mach 1, but later sold it to a good friend of his. Basically it say in a barn since 1973.

When we visited his hometown in Mansfield, WA, we saw the car and was covered in 2 inches thick of dirt. I tried to convince my dad to buy it back 2 years ago, but it wasn't a good time. We forgot about it for awhile and about a year ago my brother totaled my dads 01 viper srt10. So now my dad has no real car enjoyment in his life. As a sort of reconciliation, my brother suggested restoring this Mach 1 as a family.

So, maybe not right away, we would like to plan this restoration. Given the car basically hasn't been running since 1973(found a rabbit living in the engine bay) we would like to know the total cost of this restoration?

I think a coyote engine is in order

Tremec t56 transmission is a possibility too...

As a ballpark number my dad threw out $40k. I think that's a little high, and hopefully we can get accurate numbers in order to persuade him to the slightest. Any insight is greatly appreciated. (I'll try and find a pic of the stang and viper too)
