Tyler, I thought you were all d!ck-high for a Torino. And I didn't necessarily mean $2,000 when I said a couple grand. You and I look at the same damn cars on craigslist... you knew what I meant.

Couple was just wrong on all accounts. I didn't find a running Challenger for under $10k. Call me a liar. I apologize for spreading spurious misinformation.

Yes, poor mans Ferrari. But everyone would be welcome to call me poor if I could rock an NSX or GT (44). And the Ferrari competition was the F355.
NSX- 290HP over 3,153 for 60k. (90s-early 00s)
GT- 550HP over 3,351 for 150k. (05-07)
F355- 375 over 2,976 for 130k. (Mid 90s)

The GT isn't a fair comparison, being so much later, but the NSX was (and still is) a beast for a bargain. Just like the new NSX, which is going after the 458. For half the price, twice the reliability, and near as performance, I'd take the Honda over the 'Rarri. There's a reason people were paying 100k for a 60k car...lol.

I wasn't really bashing the honda. I was just saying that the Mr. 2 would probably be the first midship mounted car out of Japan. I would consider buying either the NSX or the MR2 before a comparable Ferrari just because anyone that can operate a fork without going blind can tinker with a Japanese car. There are some pretty rad compound boost Mister-Two's running around on the interwebs, too, if you're bored it's worth reading about. And on craigslist last month, there was a 5.3L LS4 swap MR2 for sale with a Supra suspension... how much fun would that be?

Striker red? Nice! Looks like this one will won't just be the first in the series, it'll actually be fairly unique. I would sell my gt in a heartbeat just to own this car!

Even if I was the lucky winner of that VIN0001 car, the arrest-me red would get done over in a nice semi-gloss white. If I ever own a Challenger, it's got to be white.

I think Vanishing Point has a lot to do with that.

Tyler, both of the Vanishing Point movies use a white 1970 R/T Challenger... the car doesn't change from one movie to the next like Eleanor does in the two Gone in 60 Seconds movies.

Fun fact, the Vanishing Point Challengrr does change into a Camaro before it hits the bulldozers at the end of the movie. Things that make you say "hmm".

In 2011 ten special edition Kowalski Challengers were made. They "only" have a 392, instead of the 440, but they are pretty slick nonetheless. Link:

You know... It's really cool that these cars have such awesome power figures, but at the end of the day, I don't think it's worth the weight or the heavy price tag.

I think that I would rather have a 1970 Challanger or Camaro that weighs 3000lbs and only needs 480rwhp to be on par with the Hellcat. 707hp sounds really impressive until you realize that the car has 6.3 pounds for every horse to move. You can get the same power to weight ratio out of a bone stock 400hp LS motor swapped into a 2500lb 240z/rx7/miata... and save enough money to put a down payment on a house.

Warranty? Weren't we talking about modifying the Mustang with the money we saved compared to the Hellcat? Don't most of the modifications worth doing void the warranty? Plus, putting an LS motor in a classic pony car, or a tiny Z-car, is a die-hard, fool-proof, fix-it-yourself system... your warranty is the tool box in your garage and a case of beer.

According to flying miata, the LS swap only adds 200lbs to the total weight of the mx5. And one third of that is in the rear due to the CTS-V rear end they install. Not saying that's how it is with all LS-miatas, but that shop in particular seems to have it down to a science. They say it comes to almost the same weight distribution. Link:

This. They can keep the four door but I think it should have atleast a 2 door package or something. It could look sweet.

I won't lie, if I could afford it, I would buy a C7 Z06 Stingray with the Z07 aero package. I have no idea how reliable the newest version of the Chevy small block is going to be. I don't even like the active fuel management system. Or the double over-drive 7-speed transmission. But I want that damn car something fierce.

So if the Hellcat gives you the same reaction in your pants as the Stingray does for me, I absolutely understand why you want the Hellcat.

Instead get the new 2017 SVT / Cobra / GT500 , what ever name they pick , confirmed by a high rank SVT member to be in the neighborhood of 750 HP.
Yeah you may have to wait a couple of years but the wait will be worth it a
beast of a car.

Or the cheaper version the GT350 , still nice and proper fast.

Is Ford getting ready to announce a 750 HP SVT Mustang? | HorsepowerKings.com

I can see that everybody is drooling over this damned car...
So lets buy one!

75 people each pitch in around $1000. We insure it to the hilt and each of the owners get to put 200 miles on the car. Then we sell it and split up the proceeds of the sale.

Then when the badass Mustang becomes available, we buy one of those...

I agree except with the selling part. Well race for pink slips and sell them. With 707hp how can it lose??? Then by the time the new mustang comes out well have enough to buy maybe something better than the mustang? Like Lambo or Ferrari...or....OR...Camaro! *

I'll take the C7 Z06 with the Z07 package on it, either transmission.
