One thing about the premium vehicles, like SRTs, M series, AMG series, is that many of their components are much better. I would trust the tranny in a C63 AMG much more than a C220. One reason I live the v6 Mustang, with the same tranny as the v8. Even if it has issues (standard), it is built to get beat up daily by a v8.

I won't claim a companies reliability by hearsay. Even though the people I know who LIKE chrysler complain about issues, I prefer to refer to the statistics in this case. Ever see a Lexus on the side of the road? They rank number one in quality lol.

(No lie, I see more chryslers on the side of the road than every other car brand combined. Doesn't make sense, they aren't THAT bad, but maybe I now make it a point to look, and there are so many!)

Do you have links to these statistics? I'm not trying to be a d!ck, just asking for references to the information you are using. And it comes as no surprise that Lexus is ranked number one... it's hard enough to break a Toyota. Of course their premium line is going to be invincible.

This is pulled from the other list, but images and editorial make it a little easier to take in.

Long story short, chrysler sucks. They are ranked 2nd, 4th, 7th, and 9th worse of 32 brands. Fair and equal testing.

Here it is, post 753. No offense taken, it was a fee pages back. May have to click around to see more results, and I am not arguing Ford or anyone else is the best, or end all be all, rather just the generality that chrysler as a whole sucks.

Thanks. I do remember that link being posted... I don't know why I allow myself to be so lazy sometimes. Sorry.

Lexus is killing it. Christ. I have always wanted a 2nd generation Lexus GS (300 or 400), ever since they advertised the car with the phrase "something wicked this way comes", back in '97-ish. Plus, both the 2jz inline six and the 1uz V8 are both bulletproof powerplants.

Since this is three year old models, these are all 2011s. I have quite the affinity for the Lexus IS line right now, up until the 2013. For 2014 they did away with the standard transmission. Honestly, I think I would take a standard ISF over an M3. Lexa are so sharp, and the little lackluster vs Mercedes or BMW is made up for in confidence in the vehicles for years to come.

Anyway, not trying to turn this into a Lexus thread lol. I bet the hellcat will stand apart from the rest of the line in quality, I imagine the drive train was really built to handle the power- and all the little things that would go wrong on a base model will last longer, since these will likely see few miles. It'll be interesting to see these in 3-5 years, well maintained, low miles, and at most half the price.

As of today, Chrysler dealerships can start ordering Hellcats.

I just found you can lease a Hellcat for under $600/month, heh.

Ha! My friend pays $750 for the mortgage on a two bedroom house with a separate garage on a one acre fenced plot of land.

The Hellcat really does cost as much as a house. Hell, you can lease TWO of the Lexus cars we were talking about for that price.

BUT, when the lease is up you have an option. Maybe challengers are worth something then (LOL!), and if not, then you are not stuck with it. Plus, I would think being in a hellcat for two or so years would really push one to get another vehicle lol

In that article, down in the comments, someone says "if you stop doing burnouts, the terrorists win". That is precious.

I hope that Chrysler puts the Hellcat motor/tranny/brakes into their tube chassis, Trans Am Challenger. The T/A racercar version of the Challenger is fast as hell and weighs 1000lbs less than a 2014 Challenger. It is also shorter in both length and height, yet wider. And it utilizes a solid rear axle with torque arm and panhard bar.

Mmm, 707hp Hellcat Trans Am racecar...

Cool about the HP. As much as I pity chrysler for wasting resources that real manufacturers could use, I appreciate the hellcat for its exercise in badassery (the technical term).

Stupid environment, getting in the way of the auto industry badassery. We all speculated that the Hellcat had plenty of power left in it to be unlocked with just a tune. We called that. Remove the emissions crap and spend some time dialing in the tune, and you could probably get that 707hp to the rear wheels.

I wonder how much the GT would get if the emissions crap was removed.
