Battery question

The battery in my 2008 Lincoln Mark LT with the Triton 5.4L V8 has stopped holding a charge. I have a question about the CCA rating: what exactly determines how high it needs to be? The truck has a 650CCA battery at present, the dealer standard is 540CCA, and there are 750 and 850 options. What do I *really* need to buy and how do I determine that?
