PERFORMANCE BOOSTER Designed to burn fuel cleaner, faster and more completely for greater power and fuel economy Increase gas mileage 7% to 24%, gain a 4- to 13-HP increase! Stainless steel booster installs easily inside the air intake hose of electronically fuel-injected vehicles Creates a swirling motion forcing air around corners and bends and through intakes Since air is the main component in the combustion process, this mini whirlwind results in the best fuel atomization possible. Tests prove it! The Tornado® increases gas mileage from 7% to 24% (figures confirmed by road tests performed by an emission lab licensed by EPA/CARB). Dyno testing shows a big boost in horsepower-4-HP to 13-HP gain. Maintenance free-no moving parts to wear out. Manufacturer's lifetime warranty. To order proper size: For Carburetor/EFI Type: (1) remove air inlet hose located between throttle body and air filter box; (2) measure inside diameter (ID) of hose; match measurement with corresponding ID given. For Carburetor/TBI Type: (1) lift top off to expose the air filter element; (2) line up a straight edge along top of air cleaner element at center and measure height at point ""A"", 3-1/2"" from center stud. ""A"" is distance from air cleaner base to bottom of straight edge. NOTE: Most 1987-1997 Ford cars, trucks and vans with 4.9L, 5.0L, 5.8L and 7.5L engines have 2 air intake hoses; therefore, 2 Tornado® boosters are required for these applications only.

You can add that to your Expedition's mod list!

At least that's not going to hurt the performance of the engine.
Here is a pic of what Ford used to put in the air intakes of the 460 engines in the late 80's early 90's. It looks like they reduce the airflow by about half. Their reason for installing them was that they reduced the noise from the air intake. Lol.
This is why people still think that a CAI is beneficial.
Thankfully, they don't use the air intakes to "de-tune" the engines anymore.

In other news, I picked up 3 used OEM coils from the evilbays tonight, says they'll be in Thursday. I just need this truck back up and running for Sunday so I'll do the plugs in the meantime, do the coils Thursday and then the back brakes/PB shoes on Saturday. One of the shoes sounds like it blew apart in the rotor and is catching every few miles and making quite a racket. Needs to be done anyway.

As for that damn Tornado, well I guess the person who owned the truck before me was a complete ****** but I expect that from 90% of the population. I've done the air filter twice since I've had it but never pulled the whole tube off and it was behind the MAF.

One of my co-workers put in a "Vornado" on his car (against my advice) and promptly dropped 2 mpg. I still remember the ads: Up to 18% more HP and 22% increase in mpg!

I'm telling him that if it really worked they would come on all new cars. I wonder if there is a market for them on Ebay.

Lol yeah, I'm guessing if anything it was costing me power being a hunk of **** chinese tin stuck in my intake tract. Truck is going to have brand new double plats, rebuilt OEM COPS, new filter, new oil, and the trans fluid is relatively new and looks good so I'm not going to mess with that. Did it 40k ago anyway and added 2 quarts about 5k miles ago. Hopefully I'll go from 16mpg closer to 20mpg.

I have heard that if I do headers, custom Y pipe and catback for these things you can hit the 20mpg mark on the highway. Not sure I'm going to drop $1k+ on an exhaust for what is basically turning into a 10 mile per day beater truck with the occasional road trip here and there. It really only needs to last 2 or 3 more years honestly so probably will hold off on the exhaust.

OMG How did I miss this thread. I have THREE of those on my car and you wouldn't believe the power I have now! Seriously, you wouldn't.

BUT, now I'm saving up for this supercharger. It is a full 1 pound of boost SC that will add "10-30 REAL HP!" (not sure what a "REAL HP" is anymore) Yes, not a half psi, not 3/4 of a psi, but ONE FULL PSI!

I hope that link works. I seem to have trouble posting links.
Did April Fools day move to all year round?

You just need to make sure you put them between the turbos in sequence and install the tornados so the air rotates in opposite of the turbo. That mixes the air up even better!

dont forget to tell bama about the tornado thing and the electric turbo kit so they can properly tune it and you can get the best hp out of your mods!
