Saleen - bankrupt

Saleen On The Verge Of Bankruptcy?

Doesn't look good for them.

They haven't made anything decent in many years, can't say I'm surprised.

Yeah. It looks like they don't have a proverbial "Pot to piss in".
They were never a "high flyer" but their stock has done nothing but drop this year and is currently at 3 cents a share.

The last "new" Saleen I saw was my friends 03 or 04, Yellow, S281 Supercharged.

It was a bad *** car. It was still a turd but at the time it seemed fast.

Lol they were trying to push them HAAAARRRDDD at the dealers at that time period. "Hey this thing has 460hp, that Cobra only has 390!" Almost everyone knew better. I know because I was looking at brand new 2004 GTs with my roommate.

Last thing they made that was worth two ****s was the S351 in the mid 90s. Everything else is gaudy, underpowered, stock rotating assembly/driveline crap.

Only thing that surprises me is that they didn't go under sooner.

I liked when they got ahold of a select few 03, 04 cobras. I have always had a soft spot for the body kit they used on the new edge.

Yeah Roush and Saleen both got ahold of about 20 of them each. There was a post on this forum about a year back when someone made a thread "look at this ricer who thinks his Termi is a Roush!!". Lolz.

But the Saleen/Roush Termis weren't great because of Saleen or Roush, they were great because of the (at the time) crazy *** Ford powertrain.

I also think both the Roush and Saleen body kits are meh on SN95s and Edges but that's all personal preference. I actually think the 05-09 Saleen kit is kinda nice but that was the only one I ever liked and only because I think the 05-09 GT looks so fug up front except for the GT500s.

Only thing I liked about my roush were the seats. The body kit was ehhhhh. I consider it a pretty boy car that goes for all the roush's, though.

The new edges are the best looking body style hands down anyways.
I plan on getting another 2v again one day.
Wish I had pictures of my old one. But never thought to save any of them.

Also, am I the only freak that has a thing for the 94-98 style?

I would love a 98 cobra.
That was the first mustang that made me fall in love with them. My uncle had one ( the uncle who bought my 03 cobra from me ) , back b4 I bought my 2v.
IT was a black 98 with full exhaust, 4.10's, cai etc. Loved that thing.

Keep banging around on other forums looking at 94/95 Cobra rollers but they're still all like $4k for a nice one... sheesh... You can get a running one for $6k...

I love that car, has a blown 363 Dart in it. I'm a fan of the sidepipes but they are fiberglass and he somehow has not managed to break them yet last time I checked lol. Something about a well done 94-98 that just... works. Problem is all the boy racers have them now because they are cheap to get...

Saleen - bankrupt

And that, my friends, is why I bought a Roush. Considering that ford is willing to put a roush supercharger on their 2015 king cobra. roush must be doing something right. Love saleens, but don't really care for the extreme cars of the 05-09 era. Love the racecraft and darkhorses almost bought both of them. I like the tone down saleens more than the audacious ones in terms of the body design, hope they can pull through hate to see them leave... Best of luck saleen

Roush is alot nicer of a car. For the 05 ' s and up imo. I like the new edge saleen' s.

Now 05 and up roush > saleen.
I had a 08 427r also

IMHO, if you are going to get a Saleen and have the scratch, get a 1999 S351. Best of ALL worlds. New Edge body style, 351 pushrod, supercharger, aluminum heads, 3550... the list goes on. Good luck finding one though, they only made like 46 I think and you'll pay damn near $40k for one in mint condition.

I like them Also. I think done right they look nice and clean. Obviously since I have one. The one I have isn't what I was looking for but it fell into my lap with a great price and only 42k miles in 2010 when I first got it. Also didn't want laser red, but hey. I'm getting there with mine as far as the exterior looks, going to focus on the engine more now with a full PI swap coming up here in the next 3-4 months, gathering parts now. Scotty I know your old 98 had a full PI swap, do you think the swap was worth it? I was thinking of upgrading cams to a stage 1 over the stock cams, any opinions on doing this?

Swap is totally worth it and pretty much mandatory. Cams are a good idea while is all apart. I'd do new valvesprings and cushman stage 2 na cams.
