Is that for 93? Or regular?

The lowest for regular here in the valley is $1.98. The average is about $2.00

I'm curious as to how many people will run out and buy a full size truck/suv that gets 15-20mpg instead of a car/crossover that gets 25+ and then ***** that they can't afford it when it finally does go back up.

I bought my newest F150 when gas was near $4, and have owned three 1/2 ton trucks in the last 4 years so I've handled the price flux. I admit, it's noticeably less right now when I have to fill up almost all 36 gal in my truck but I'm also fine with having to fill it up when gas is $4 too.

Glad it's cheaper because all we own are trucks. Yet reading the headlines coming from Russia it doesn't sound to good.

$2.09 on base now... Cmon... Cmon... magic $1.99 number soon! Now costs $28 to fill up the wife's CRV which goes 330 miles per tank. My truck takes about 24 gallons per fill so under $50 for it would be magical and since the spark plug change its damn near 20mpg so that's like 450 miles per tank on a 5 mile per way commute.

It has dropped to the mid $2.70's at my locale in N.California. I think that I paid in the mid 2.40's the last time that I went to the "Big city".
Our fuel is always more expensive in CA because the California Air Research Board forces the whole state to use a special "Boutique blend" of gasoline that supposedly pollutes the air less...
I apologize for CA.

The full-size trucks nowadays are starting to get pretty decent mileage. Some are around 30 mpg. I'll bet truck sales will be up! If nothing else, companies with fleets of vehicles will be more willing to upgrade to more fuel efficient trucks. I think that most everyone will agree that these low prices won't last, but the latest models are getting better mileage, and we love our trucks here, so I can see the average consumer skipping the Prius this round... for a Raptor!

I have a bad feeling that there is some sort of agreement between the incumbent party to keep the prices low until the 2016 elections and then they'll go back up. Just like gas was low in 2008. Who knows. I'll enjoy it while it lasts but the demand is only going to go down in the USA at least. Especially once more electrics with the range to compete with traditional gasonline become available and charging stations start popping up more than the current Tesla ones already are. With the Tesla patents all being released, its only a short matter of time before this is reality.

I your opinion is true why not wait until mid 2015? I think the reason gas prices dropped in 08 was because the oil companies didn't want alternative energy to be an election issue. Now since the prices have dropped you don't hear much about alternative fuel or energy. Just like in the 80's when gas was cheap and nobody was even interested in alternative energy.

Yeah but now alternative energy is gaining a metric ****ton of steam and is not going to be stopped. Even the Navy is developing tech to run its fleet of non-nuclear ships on seawater. Oil is just not going to be in demand like it was at least not here IMO. Maybe I'm wrong. Coal on the other hand... we're the "Saudi Arabia of Coal". I don't want to get started on coal tho...

Gas prices

Alternative energy started out slow. But it's speeding up. I'm actually pretty interested in it. Even super cars are starting to be hybrids. Look at the P1. And the Tesla Model S is pretty damn fast for what it is.

With the ride in alternative energy it changes the supply and demand. And where gas used to be non-elastic in it's demand, it's actually starting to become elastic. With even more alternative energy cars I wouldn't be surprised if gas stays fairly low. I'm sure it'll go back up a bit though. But not like $5 like Rap thinks.

It will go up. And even if it doesn't we still have natural gas. So I don't care my company will still be going one way or the other. And if it doesn't we can always get into whatever we want

I do think it will go up. Since it goes up and down every year, but right now the only way I see it going tremendously high is through inflation. We are a ways away from using only alternative fuels in cars. But eventually it will happen that we wean off of fossil fuels. It usually takes a while for technology to begin, but once it gets going it usually has exponential growth.

$1.79 jeez... we get into the $1.50 range that's like early 2000s prices. And yeah the companies that deal in oil/gas will have natural gas to fall back on and move into alternative energy themselves.

^ Those are prices for premium gas, so that puts regular in the mid $2.50's. That's not bad for the bay area!
I wonder if gas will get below $2 per gallon anywhere in CA?
