I'd take $2.69, it's $3.19-3.29 for 93 where I am west of Baltimore.

I filled up with premium here in Upstate NY at $2.79 and that was with a .10 cent discount.

Regular is hovering around $3.45 here in NorCal.

All of the "rolling coal" talk got me thinking... Diesel is about 30 cents cheaper than 87 octane gasoline, here in CA. Historically, or at least for the last 10 or so years, diesel has been slightly more expensive than gasoline.
Have any of you guys noticed this dip in diesel prices? And does anyone know why?

I know diesel prices have a ceiling unlike gas. Usually diesel stood around 3.60 here And has keeps going up

Diesel generally follows the price of gasoline pretty closely. I saw diesel for $3.09 about a week ago. Gas was about $3.39.
When diesel is less expensive than gas, it makes something powered by a small turbo-diesel look pretty attractive from an economy point of view.
Better than a hybrid!

Yeah they mirror each other for sure. I'm not sure what causes the price ceiling though

Europe has been doing the small displacement turbo diesel thing forever. No idea why it never caught on here. Probably something to do with the noise and the smell and soccer mom (soccer moms not soccer's mom) dissapproval.

My old boss actually has an 06 Volvo sedan turbo diesel with some sort of mileage mod and a mileage tune. He claims 60+mpg commuting into work and I have no doubt that's correct.

Gas prices

Europe is all diesel now, and it is actually more expensive to buy than gas there. Go figure! The cars cost more to buy too. The thinking is that because you get better economy, eventually you'll break even and start making savings. Always wondered how many years it would take though...

I had a 1.6 L petrol (gas) turbo Nissan Juke and had real trouble trying to sell it as everyone wants diesels. Sad.

Yeah fuel over there is ridiculous. Except on the bases... USAFE subsidizes fuel for DOD stationed over there thankfully. You do have limit on how much you can buy on base via a gas card tho.

It's still hovering in the $3.09 range here.

Hey Scotty, I know that this is a little before your time, but I'm having trouble identifying this part. I think that it is a pump of some sort. I don't know if it is fuel or hydraulic. It was rebuilt at NAS Alameda in 1962.
Do you have any idea what it might be?

Haha. I thought that maybe you might have seen something like it on an aviation mechanics training aircraft or something. Like maybe a Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star or something like that! Lol.

I will eventually find the aircraft that this part belongs on, and it it will once again be majestically winging it's way through the clear blue sky!

Only thing I can think of is it might be a CSD(constant speed drive) or something from an engine.

Shooting Star... Lol thanks. Although I did some time as a C5 mechanic and those were designed in the 60s.

Lol
I haven't bought gas for a few days. It's actually $2.75.
And it's a good thing, because this is the, babying-it-around, freeway mileage of a Chevy 8.1 litre gas engine.
