Here in Donna, Texas. Average right now is around $2.22 for 87 and $2.53 for 93. Lowest is $2.19 for 87. Oh and we can get 3ยข off from those prices at some gas stations

Wow! $1.98! I haven't seen gas prices this low in 20 years!
Gas is still about $2.90 where I'm at but it's a pretty good distance for it to be delivered from the refineries.

Oil prices keep dropping so we should see these low prices for a while. The only downside is that when oil prices drop, it is generally an indication that there is very little confidence in the global economy.

I'm just going to enjoy the prices... for now!

Right now, it can be most closely linked to the collapse of the Russian Ruble.

Agreed.
Except for when I'm standing at the gas pump, filling my vehicle, oil prices trading in the $50 per barrel range makes me uncomfortable...

Combination of lower US demand, Saudi Arabia not cutting production and issues in Russia. It's $2.19 here, going to get below $2 soon I'd imagine. All predictions say it should be this price for awhile. I honestly don't give a **** if its bad for the economy right now, I can fill up my Expy for $50 vs $90 now.

With inflation eventually. Also depends on how long OPEC wants to compete with ISIS since they took control of that oil plant.

I'm curious Rap, when prices are this low, does it affect the production in Texas? I mean do guys start getting laid off and such?

Depends. Some of the smaller companies may lay people off.
It has not slowed down yet though, as a matter of a fact it's actually picked up, even more for us down south, within the last 2 weeks.

Only way for it to get real bad and smaller companies have to let people go. Is if the price drops below $50 a barrel. Which i seriously do not see happening.

Well that's good!
They don't make as much money I suppose but as long as the bills are getting paid and they can keep everyone busy, that's a good thing!

In the $2.20s now in NJ. I expect it to hit the $1.99 magic number soon.

Funny you said that, we have a Shell station in walking distance from the tank truck loading racks at the Shell refinery. Its the most expensive gas in town.

I noticed a lot of stations still have high prices on 93 relative to what 87 is selling for. I wonder if that's because 93 is a slower mover so they haven't got the new deliveries yet at the lower price? Regular is 2.45 and 93 is 3.25 still. That's a huge difference.

That's just where you are. Depending on if I'm at school or at home it changes. At home I get gas at CostCo and 91 is usually $.20 more than 87. Now at school it's all over the place. Currently the price difference between home and the stations near my school are about a whole dollar.

Gas is barely creeping under $3 in SoCal, I paid 3.10 for my latest tank on 91 since we don't get 93.

1.859 for 87 this morning where I live in north Texas. 91 is 1.959 and 93 is 2.059. I'm in the oil business also. These prices hurt drilling and exploration more than production at existing wells. In the end it all catches up and prices will go back up. For those who remember, this is where prices were in Nov 2008.
