2016 Camaro teased at Chicago Auto Show

Apparently a full release will be in two months in NYC. From this look... I can already say I like the side profile 100x more than the S550. Very interested to see the final specs on this thing, if it is actually going to get the LT1 like everyone thinks it will, how much weight (if any) did the Alpha platform knock off and will there be a 1LE package etc...

2016 Camaro teased at Chicago Auto Show

Looks like it is time for the front and rear end to either make it of break it. I also hope they revised that god awful interior. Im honestly not sure how GM is doing this since they are still in a crap hole right now. They are still facing issues with the hedge fund from 2009.

Never liked the new camaro. But I do respect that they are very good performance cars. Hope they fix the hideous body. Personally, my go to GM muscle car would be a GTO...

I heard that Pontiac might be coming back for two years, for the firebird...
But I forgot another GM muscle car I'd want is a firehawk. Although those body style Camaro, and firebirds are a pig to work on....

If they bring back the Firebird Trans-Am, well, that would make me seriously consider a trade in.

Exactly what I thought when I saw the price, and I like the 76-79 body better.

I can't imagine GM is going to bring back Pontiac for the firebird or whatever, especially when they need the Camaro to not have any in-house competition vs the S550.

I don't care what it looks like or whatever it performs like I WILL never own a newer GM product ever ever again. The last two that I owned were the worst vehicles I've ever owned in my life. I would buy the older GM stuff though. Ford has won me over due to reliability and to me there is no comparison between the two right now.

That pic is really has my interest...

The new Camaro WILL get the LT1, no question or doubt about it. As far as platforms go, word is that the alpha platform Camaro will weigh about 100 lbs more than the 4th gen Fbody and about 300 lbs less than the current 5th gen. So expect a curb weight around 3400 - 3600 lbs depending on options.

Also, the Cadillac ATS-V, 4 door comes in around 3680 lbs. So, knock off a bit for it being a lux vehicle (sound deadening, heavier interior bits) and 4 doors and 3500 lbs seems pretty easy to accept. GM is out for blood, no doubt. After all the safety recalls and BS they have been dealing with, this next gen Camaro won't be the side-grade performance jump (or lack thereof) that the S550 was, it will be the real deal and it will come out swinging.

Things are about to get interesting..

As much of a Ford fan as I am, I was really really REALLY let down by the S550. Ford blew the Camaro out of the water in 2011 and I think they might have let their guard down or are going back to the "we'll just outsell GM" days of when the LS1 stomped all over the old 5.0 and 4.6L motors.

This side profile shot... I mean the car looks SICK, absolutely SICK. I just hope to hell GM doesn't have some ridiculous price point like $40k for a near base model LT1 setup but I have a bad feeling that will be the case.

I'm guessing more in the 3600 range. 4th Gen F body was already high 3400s. I actually really like the side view so far. If the front and rear end look good, and they fix the god awful interior i might consider one. But i'd have to drive both the Mustang and Camaro to see what feels right. Idk how i feel about how big the camaro is. And the interior really is what kills the 5th gen for me anyway. Hopefully they transform it like they did going from C6 to C7.

The SS will probably be the base and likely faster in all aspects than the S550 if the LT1 stays the same as the one in the C7.

Like I said, as much of a Ford fanboy as I am... if I had to bet money I'd bet on the Camaro pushing the S550's butthole in when it releases. Although Ford may be waiting to introduce a new V8 when the new Camaro does release so who knows.

Not that crappy IMO. What happened to the ppl who bought the 2010s was crappy but the Coyote is so good that even if something like a variant of the 6.2L got introduced in 2016 or 2017 its not like the Coyote guys are stuck with a turd.

Guess it most likely wouldn't be the drastic jump like from the 3v to the coyote
