Traded cars with a buddy just to get a feel for it and because I know he's been itching to drive it again. His review of the car was kind of funny. He's coming from a bolt-on 2014 Evo X (330awhp and 370awtq) and couldn't get enough of the torque when you tipped in to the throttle a little. The gearing also threw him off quite a bit, he said he kept accidently doing 60+ when going through the gears and only giving it a little throttle. Getting in and out was also funny to watch due to how low it sits. He thought the suspension was a little soft compared to the factory Evo suspension. He also thinks I'll beat him in a drag race, which we're doing next wednesday, and will murder him from a roll.

It was pretty interesting to hear a different opinion on the car and to see what the differences were between the two.

Only if you bring it out here!

It's doing good, I've been getting a bit of a gas smell in the cabin after filling up, but other than that it's good. It sounds like it's a known problem so I just need to spend a day looking into it. I've been getting better gas mileage than my truck surprisingly.

I haven't had a chance to lower it like I was wanting to, but I might try again this weekend. There won't be much going on with the car for the next month or so because my roommates and I are planning on moving into a house and that's gonna take up my extra cash. But I should have a garage space for the car when we do and I'm looking forward to that a lot.

Unfortunately we got rained out last night so I never got to run. I was pretty frustrated needless to say because i took the day off work to go. It feels like last year all over again.

A garage will be good!

Sucks about the rain.
That drag strip is Bandimere right? Isn't that the place where they have the Mile High Nationals? I wonder how often that the NHRA events get rained out?

It's actually been raining here in NorCal pretty solid for about 24hrs now... It's such a nice break from the heat!

This has been a better storm, as far as rain, than a lot of the ones last winter!
There has been more rain this summer than last summer, up here.
A lot of thunderstorms this summer...

Anyways, I'm pretty excited. Itll be nice to have a garage to store the car in during the winter and I like being able to actually tear into it without worrying about getting it onto the road the next day.

Yeah we have the Mile High Mopar nationals there every year. That I know of its hasn't been rained out, but I rarely ever go to that event.

Alright so I had some extra cash laying around from selling off some paintball gear and decided to splurge. I went ahead and ordered this http://www.c7carbon.com/20052013-zr1...k1devvgu9l1se1 sounds like it takes close to a month to ship out which is kind of annoying. I tried looking for a lip that wasn't fiberglass but couldn't find any besides a carbon fiber and I don't really feel like spending double the price on something that is probably gonna get destroyed. I might order the sideskirts here in the next few days if I can sell off one of my other paintball guns.

Yep, I'm looking forward to it. If I order the side skirts then all that's left for my exterior plans are some wheels and a drop

Just picked up a set of side skirts for $230 shipped. I'll put up some pics when I get them and the lip installed.

Maybe you should post up some pics before the skirts are installed.

This is what happened when Mark Hamill was left to his own devices in the movie "Corvette Summer"...

Haha I can do that. Don't worry I like to think I have better taste than Mark Hamil, let alone a much smaller budget than him.

Side skirts arrive tomorrow and the lip comes in on friday.

Surprisingly I haven't taken too many pictures of the car, mostly because it is super dirty. But here's two new ones. Walking past the Challenger made me realize just how big they really are

Car is looking good, JDF! I really like that Challenger too. Black and white are excellent color combos.

Lol.
I'm old enough to have seen that movie the year that it was released. I remember thinking that it was a pretty cool car at the time! Haha it was the 70's! Everything was custom!
I saw an article about that car a few years ago and I thought to myself "Holy hell! I used to like that?!?".
How times change...

So do the skirts come pre-painted and ready to install?

Haha I feel like that is a little radical for the 70s, but I wasn't alive back then so I really can't say.

I bought them used off of a Corvette forum. They're painted black an d come with all hardware. I just inboxes them so I'll have pictures up in a bit. FedEx tried delivering my front lip as well but that package requires a signature for some stupid reason and I was asleep when they stopped by. I left a note for them tomorrow so I should have pictures of that when it arrives.

I only took one picture seeing as there isn't exactly a lot of detail to these. I should have pictures of them on the car tomorrow and depending on if the lip comes in black or primer I will have that installed as well.

Yea it's a 15, I follow the Challengers closely if you didn't notice. 😁
My second favorite modern muscle car, after the 05-09 mustangs.

Alright round two for typing this post up...

So here's how my day went:

Package arrived around 2:30, I had it unboxed and took those pictures from earlier at around 3, I spent the next hour getting the car jacked up and ready for install. The next half hour was spent mocking things up and looking for instructions while wondering why all these Corvette guys are so worried about jacking points and jack stand placement. After that I got the passenger side all lined up and mounted before having to call it a day. I had to go pick up truck so I could get to work and leave the vette on stands. The plan for tomorrow is to install the drivers side skirt and the front lip and possibly try to adjust ride height if I have time.

I took some before pictures as well since this thread has been lacking in that department.

I need to step away from the Corvette classifieds because at the rate I'm going I'm gonna be all out of play money quite fast. Just made a deal for a MagnaFlow catback shipped to my parents house for $350. Expect to see an update on that some time next week.

Haha I kind of noticed. Dodge really nailed it with the 15s, the solid rear tail light on the previous years was not doing it for me at all. Too bad they weigh so much.

Alright so I finished off my side skirt install. The drivers side took about 15 minutes since I brought home my nice Snap-On cordless 1/4 drive electric ratchet and my Makita drill (these two have been a great time saver at work).

While I was under there I took some time to inspect the car some more. It looks like my A/C condenser has been replaced or it is the shiniest part in my engine bay. I also found the factory lowering bolts (the bolt is sticking up out of the spring in the pictur) and got a picture of the current dronemasters. Please excuse the crappy pictures, the underside of the car was about 2 inches above my face and my light was way too bright for my phone camera to handle.

I think I'm gonna try and lower the car while it's in the air tomorrow. The process to lower it looks very simple, just jack up on the spring (it's a leaf spring) and screw the bolt to the desired height, bottomed out in my case, and the release the jack. Shouldn't take long and it should give me at least a half inch drop all around.

Front lip arrived today. It came in this gigantic box with absolutely no padding whatsoever, but it arrived safe and sound. Install took about an hour. The Corvette front bumpers are not very flexible and the lip was even less flexible so install was a little interesting. The corners almost seemed bowed inwards a little so I had to bolt one side up and then carefully stretch the other side to the correct position. The lip is currently primers black, but I plan on grabbing some glossy spray paint and painting it sometime in the next week. Lowering the car was very simple, but turning the screw was a pain because I couldn't get a ratchet on due to the shock being in the way. If I had brought home my wobbly sockets then it would have been fine, but I didny. I ended up having to use an open end 10mm wrench to turn all of them. The stance looks nice but I can't really tell if it's lower.

I'll have better pictures in a few days hopefully.

I agree, I've been listening to far too any cammed exhaust videos. I need to start researching what all is involved in replacing one and what will be ideal for my setup. Do you have any suggestions?

Right now I plan on doing long tubes and the Vararam intake along with a tune. I may pick up a ported LS2 intake if I see a good deal on one, but otherwise that's all I plan on doing

Thanks! I forgot how much it sucks taking a picture of black wheels and body accents, they don't show up at all in those pictures.

Can't even see them.. They look AWESOME!

Yeah, I wonder what the process for swapping cams is on those cars?
It used to be that you just removed the radiator, AC condenser, grill, etc. But I don't know about Corvettes.
Perhaps remove the front clip?

From the limited reading I've done it looks like the cross member has to come off as well

Texas Speed Performance - https://texas-speed.com/ makes great cams for the LSx.

I have an MS3 (Magic Stick 3) on a 112 LSA from TSP. It's a great cam but does have some bucking issues (cam surge) at low rpm (1100 rpm or less). Otherwise, it pulls HARD from 2300 rpm all the way to 6800 rpm and could pull a little further (7300 rpm) if I wanted it to. This is IMO, slightly large for a DD but great for a weekend/toy car.

A good all around cam would be the TSP Torquer V4 231/234 .619/.612 on a 111 LSA ( Texas Speed Torquer V3 231/234 .643/598 Camshaft ).

Great power every where, that big cam idle chop, will work with stock heads and no fly cutting of pistons. LS2's in my area with basic bolt ons (CAI, full exhaust, cam and tune) are putting down about 430 whp and 420 tq (6spd cars) with these cams. Making solid torque numbers too, around 250 whp and 350 wtq @ 2500 rpm and building all the way to around 6200 rpm (generally peak power) before flat lining, power doesn't drop off, just stays flat to 6500 rpm. The gains from this cam are around 55 whp on a stock car with just long tubes and a tune and jumps up a good bit from there.

The Torquer V4 is honestly a cam that can grow with your mods. It will take advantage of new heads, a fast 102 intake/tb and will love nitrous, if you ever go that route.

I've honestly never heard anyone complain about the Torquer cams unless they were going with a full out build (track car) and just needed more power.

Also, key thing. When upgrading the cam, absolutely go with new valve springs, push rods, lifters and timing chain.

Here is a great guide for installing the cam in your car, that thread along with a service manual should be all you need if you are going to DIY it. - And its begun... Cam & Supercharger - Corvette Forum
