Bumping this because I don't feel like starting another thread. Picked up a bone stock 02 Z06 with 109k this week. I enjoyed the Bullitt but wanted to get into a better chassis and frankly I missed my old corvette. Plans for this car are pretty similar to my old one (bolt-ons, cam, etc). I spent the day today doing an oil change and repairing the turn signals. My hazard switch failed which caused the turn signals not to work at all. One $5 relay and a half hour of work fixed that though. I managed to talk the dealer down $2k off of their price because of that issue..

I'm gonna see about lowering it on the stock bolts for now. Future plans include a set of Forgestar F14s (see pic), C6Z brakes, ARH long tubes, Corsa Extremes, a Halltech cai, and a dyno tune. I plan on getting this out to the road course so for now I will be doing maintenance items instead of mods. I did buy an MGW today, which should arrive some time this week.

I don't have too many pictures right now but that should be changing soon.

Love it! Great color and wheels look excellent (and I usually don't like black wheels). These look soooo much better than the C7's lol. Don't know if I said it last week, but congrats! Hope you stick around like you did last time.

I haven't bought those wheels uet, but those are the wheels that I'm planning on picking up. The C5Z's are my second favorite Corvette with the first being the C6Z. I'll hang around here still, it's too much of a habit for me to browse this forum.

How does the car seem to be holding up after 15 years and 100k+ miles? Any obnoxious squeaking or rattling? Does the interior seem to be in pretty good shape?

Overall the car has been well taken care of. It's a two owner car originally out of California so the paint isn't in bad shape or anything. The drivers seat needs replaced because one of the owners would just fall into the seat. The left thigh bolster is completely destroyed because of it. There isn't any squeaks or rattles that I can find as of yet. More time may reveal some things I missed initially.

MGW came in today. Install was pretty straightforward and easier than I expected. Shifts are nice and crisp and take very little effort to switch gears. I was kind of hesitant to go with an MGW because the last two cars I've driven that had an MGW did not wow me.

Very cool. Post a video of the Z06 with them installed. I'd like to hear it.
I've been looking at C6 GS's lately might have to see what the Vette is about.

I can try but it's very quiet. I discovered that there was some sort of small rodent that called in and died. The exhaust smells like old fur and there's been a bunch of fur flying out of it.

That's an impressive feat. I've had an air intake full of dog food come in in a customer's car

Lol.
Hopefully nothing that a few good long wide open pulls won't solve.

Made a couple of those last night. I haven't gone and checked since then. Just idling it would blow fur out, so hopefully those hard pulls cleared it out.

Small update. Did the "zip tie" mod this morning. Guys on LS1Tech claim 15whp and 10wtq from doing this, so I figured I'd try it. I will admit to having my doubts about it, but we will see. The mod is basically taking off the air filter cover and zip tying the filter back onto the lower half of the air box. I'd assume that allows the filter to access more air and is where you might see gains in horsepower.

I should have more mods and updates coming in the next few weeks, so stay tuned.

I would be surprised (Shocked really) if the engineers, of any of the manufacturers, left that much power in the air intake of their performance cars, built in the 21st century.
Anything is possible, though, I suppose...

What does your butt dyno results tell you?

Butt dyno wants to say that I noticed a difference, but I have a tough time telling if it's a placebo or not. I only have one benchmark but I haven't been able to test it yet. I'm skeptical that the dyno claims were combined with a tune.

Well my package that I've been waiting over 3 weeks for finally arrived. I've been having problems with extended driving causing problems with my right hip due to the drivers seat being fairly destroyed. It seems like one of the previous owners was either fairly overweight or would fall into place whenever he got into the car. The left thigh bolster was completely destroyed and consequently caused me to put a lot of pressure on my right hip. I bought a Corbeau DFX fixed back seat and rails to hopefully fix that. I'm currently attempting to install it right now, but it's proving to be far more tedious than I expected. I've had to enlarge the base mounting holes and I really need to convert either to a C6 style seat belt or a harness bar.

I also purchased a Sparco steering wheel, NRG 2.0 quick release, and an NRG hub adaptor because I was anticipating having issues getting out with a fixed steering wheel. I'm currently waiting on the adaptor and then I can install the wheel.

I like it a lot. The extra support that it provides is great and I don't have to deal with adjustmentioned knobs or friends changing my seating position.

As it sits the seat is wedged up against the lower seat belt retractor, so I'm going to have to convert to either a C6 seat belt or a harness bar and harness setup

Scored a free harness from a buddies dad today. He has to replace his harnesses every two years in order to run King Street and had 3 old harnesses laying around. I might have a line on a harness bar as well, but that might have to wait a couple more weeks.

It will be interesting to hear how you like that steering wheel, after you've had a chance to drive around with it for a while.

^ seconded. I know Matt Farrah stated numerous times that he liked the small wheel in his 98 Vette in C5 reviews.

I'm curious as well. The factory C5 steering wheel is just a tad bit too large for my liking and it doesn't look all that great. The aftermarket wheel should actually help improve visibility a little bit with the new seat along with making steering feel a bit heavier.

Pulled my EBCM out yesterday to fix the bad solider joints on the circuit board. It's kind of nice not having to deal with my ABS/TCS/AH lights being on.

Nice! Makes you feel good when you can fix something that would typically require a replacement. I had to clean and re-solder a few resistors on my POS Buick daily's gauge cluster. The digital ODO was gone lol. I happened to look on YouTube and found out it was a very popular problem and a simple fix. The dang resistors on the display were corroded so bad you could pick them off the board with your fingers.

Yeah the normal fix for what I did is either replace it ($800- $2,000) or send it out to be fixed ($150-$200)

Forgot to take any pictures but I replaced the front brake pads and rotors, front tires, and swapped the brake fluid for Motul RBF600 on Thursday. Also swapped out my clutch fluod using the "Ranger method". I cheaper out on the front pads for now but I will install some nice pads and rotors once I get ready for a track day.

Also had my buddy trade his Evo X for a 2010 3lt Grand Sport. It's a pretty sweet car.

Being side by side, I still like the C5's better. I just like the curves.

Nice. I've always liked the C6 GS, one of the few new Corvettes I'd own. Pretty much a C6Z with an LS3.

See I prefer the C6 body style slightly more
than the C5, but considering how good my car performs I really can't complain.

Well were actually trying to find a C6Z to test drive, but we couldn't find anything and stumbled onto this car instead.
