New (2016) Camaro

On Motorweek last night, they showed the 2016 Camaro.... V6=335HP V8=455HP and a new 4 cylinder turbo at 275 HP. With 8-speed autos.

OK Ford. What are you going to do about that?

The Ecoboost will be faster than the camaro v6 because theres no way it can match the torque, so no care there, and 20 horsepower at the crank is a driver's race between the cars assuming the weight is the same, and we dont have official weights yet do we?

New (2016) Camaro

So I guess the ecoboost is the only one that has a chance against the Camaro variant. Since the cyclone has no chance and the coyote is basically in the same boat.

If everything seems under control, you're not going fast enough.

The mustang was also supposed to be 200 lbs lighter, yet here we are. The Camaro will not be 200 lbs lighter than the mustang, there's no way they're getting that car to 3500 lbs. They're likely advertising the 4 cylinder turbo like Ford was. These cars are still damn close on paper, its pretty much a drivers race.

I think Chevy did a good job with the increase in horsepower and new transmissions. I wish ford did something similar! But their 4 cylinder is fairly weak stock. Our 3.7s will have the edge of Chevy's 4 cylinder right? Or should we be worried?

It's Definitely lighter. The body in white SS is 133 pounds lighter than last gen.

If they can also make the paint stick to the car, I'll definitely consider one as my next ride.

But agreed on seeing some final weight numbers for a fair comparison.

All indications as I see them are that the 2016 Camaro SS will be close to 200 lbs lighter than the 2015 Camaro SS, for a curb weight of about 3700 lbs.
With the HP increase it goes from 9.1 lbs/HP to 8.13 lbs/HP, as well as an increase from 420 lb/ft to 455 lb/ft of torque.

The Camaro looks better a convertible than it does a coupe. I bet there will be a bunch of those driving around when they're available.
