Built Ford Tough!

Just wanted to celebrate my 1999 Ford Expedition hitting 300
thousand miles! It still has it's original never removed 5.4 liter engine, original automatic
transmission with the same fluid it left the factory with, and the same rear end
from the factory as quiet as a mouse. It runs perfect, uses almost no oil and drives and looks like a new truck. Try that with your 99 Suburban and see what happens! Oh and the fuel pump and A/C compressor is original as well. My previous truck before this was a 93 Suburban. In 180,000
miles it was on it's third engine, second transmission, third rear end, fourth A/C compressor, fourth radiator, fourth radio, third A/C control unit, fourth p/s pump, third fuel pump, and on and on and on.

That's a Ford for ya. Just some regular maintenance and they can last forever, if more people would only properly maintain their vehicles.....

Damn... My Expy just hit 140k and its going to need a new exhaust probably next year. But besides that still runs like a champ. Here's hoping to another 140k!

Aint that the truth?? Keeping clean quality fluids in your car alone will greatly extend your vehicle's lifespan.

That is impressive... and don't ever change it, chunks of the tranny would probably fall out with the oil. lol

So sad but it's the truth!

I switched to a domestic car vs. import because of maintenance costs back at the time. To keep up with my 3000GT, I had to pour my life savings/earnings just to keep it running. With the Mustang, I can easily keep up with the maintenance and have plenty of money to spend on mods. Not just the 2014 Mustang, but also with the older 2000 and 2008 I had.

Things were breaking on my 3000GT that you don't normally see break on cars. I will probably be sticking to domestics for a while. Because some of those foreign cars hardly have space to work with under the hood, etc. Whereas with the Mustang, I have plenty of room to do most things.

Note to Mitsubishi - I surrender. Don't ever do that to me again!

99 must be a good year, we have a superduty with the 5.4 over 320,000 miles. It's starting to do some ticking but honestly how could anyone complain?
