Why does Ford not care about Focus in USA?

How come Ford doesn't care about Ford Focus in USA? The Ford Focus in USA sucks compared to those ones in Europe. In Europe they change the design way more than they do here. In Europe they changed the design 3 or 4 times, in USA only 2. In USA Ford Focus is seen as joke by many and it can't live up to standards of it's competitors like Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. In Europe Ford Focus is considered a very good car and it can compete with cars like Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla. There is even a cabriolet version of ATEQ VT55 in Europe and it look pretty good. I've been in a Focus in Europe and it's much better than the one in USA. I was wondering, why doesn't Ford USA give a crap about the Focus? Now they are bringing the electric motor version one, which no one I know is exited about. I also went to Ford's facebook page and nobody is exited about it there too.

Markets in the U.S. and Europe differ. In Europe, 4 cylinder, 4 cylinder turbos, and diesels drive the market. In the U.S., its all about displacement; 8 cylinders and more.

You have seen the ST version out here right? And the RS is releasing here too finally. Ford actually finally is getting around to the US market.

Also we have different requirements here as far as EPA and other stuff. Not to mention having been to Europe and driving over there... its a different animal in a lot of places vs here. Highways that are actually really well maintained and the majority of drivers (in Germany at least) do not have their head up their *** which is my experience in the Northeast states in the USA.

People in the US hate change... Just look at everyones complaints about the new Mustang. People would rather stick to the retro look forever.

Not to get too far off topic but you wanna see bad/terrible/careless drivers head down to anywhere Texas and you'll meet one as soon as you cross the state line. Not to mention roads are terrible.

Not to mention a study was done a cpl yrs back and over half of the cities bridges and over passes failed inspection. Some literally having exposed rebar, so youre obv right the roads are just fantastic.

Just returned from visiting family over the Easter weekend in PA. I knew the roads were horrible, but I forgot just how horrible. TN has spoiled me in comparison. Best roads I've experienced personally were in Arizona, not to mention the 7 lane highways in either direction.

I guess people in the U.S. just see the Focus as a commuter/economic car, which it is but its also a great hot hatch. I'm so happy they are finally bringing the RS to the U.S, that's gotta be one of my favorite cars that never made it to the U.S.

In my opinion the Focus is junk. Ford produces two decent vehicles; the Mustang, and the GT40. At the moment I am discouraged by Ford trying another 4cyl in the Mustang.

I had a 2015 focus as a rental. It was completely gutless, and had an ultra cheap interior. Overall it was a very miserable car to drive and almost unsafe on the highway due to it's blaring lack of power, decent tires, and NVH. Far from a hot hatch. Now their sport variant may be better, but all in all they are an eco box shooting for higher MPGs at the cost of...well everything.

I had a rental one too...the Hundai was better. That being said I'm sure with 350HP/AWD it's a blast to drive but with the US road system and gas prices they are a hard sell at the $30K+ sticker. $25K I'd consider it

I can't make myself spend that much money on a Hundai. I can make myself spend that on any Korean car. There are very few Japanese makes and models I would consider for that price.

I was trying to reference the Focus price and desirability.

I had the Focus and Elantra rentals back to back and I liked the Elantra for what it was. First car I drove that I got 40+ mpg in. It rode better/better mpg than the focus. I found interior much better looking and both looked ok from outside but slight edge to Focus.

I will say the Focus comes with a lot more buttons inside.

My bro in law just got delivery of a new RS last week. He put money down on it last summer. I think you'd change your tune if you got a chance to drive one. A real kick in the pants.

There was a guy who brought a new RS out to NCCAR a few weeks ago. It looked like a fun little car, I cant wait to see how the owner grows into it.

Since the introduction of the MK3 Focus in 2011 the car is identical world wide. It actually beat out the Corolla as the best selling car in the world in 2012.
