I dunno, it takes some getting used to. And considering the hype for it, you better start liking it because everyone's going to have one lol

my dislikes: most of the interior, bleh. esp that door handle!, is that a stock v6 wheel...?, the orange lights on the front bumper.

undecided: the engine bay. looks crowded, but that could be good or bad. I couldn't make out most of the pics.

my likes: the cloth on the (rear) seats that say Mustang, the whole rear of the car on the outside, most of the front.

over all, I really really want one. won't happen, but oh well. They will have kits, dont worry. somebody will come up with something, id bet money.

Thats why I don't want one, I don't see very much for anything aftermarket for it. It resembles the old stangs. You don't see any 66 stangs drivin around with aftermarket kits, hoods, rims, etc.

All in all after a year of them being released, you'll see them as much as you see the current stangs on the road. If their arn't any real good after market body parts for them, they will all be the same. Thats why I altered my stang, I didn't want one that looks like an everyday driving mustang.

I think it will be a HUGE hit when they first come out, but fastly die off because everyone will have one and it will be like our current mustangs. except you will barely be able to alter the looks without making it look ugly. 2: Plus I like the newer lookin cars and stuff, not really into the old looks.

That's not happening anytime soon. The Mustang has too much of an emotional connection with too many people.

Yea I would never buy one.

I dont like being restricted in what I can do to my car.

I dont care for the Modular Engines and the 4.6 3v in GT's just Screams Expensive as in modding.

It's totally going to be like the new Thunderbird. SVC tried to take one and modify it to make it cool again... Here's a pic of their body kit. Can you tell what it is? Can you even tell it's not stock?

About all they could do to it was slap a blower on.

The brakes and the windshield banner. Those are the only things I can tell are different. I hope the '05 Mustang has some pimp windshield banners.

Agreed.

Ford tries too hard to target one age group, and one group only. The new Thunderbird was targeted for the baby boomers, people in their 40's-50's, looking for a somewhat luxury/sport car, and people who didnt have young children, and didnt need 4 doors

the only thing i can see the mustang having over the Thunderbird in that aspect, is that the car is still practicle, it has seating for 5, it should have some back seat room, good trunk spaces, yadda yadda yadda, but i dont see people in my age group buying one, and i dont see a whole lot of people in the 25-30 age range buying one, but i could see the people in their late 40's+ buying em, since they grew up with the old mustangs, and can relate to the newer body style

the Thunderbird had just as many emotional connections, hell, my parents friends always have stories to tell about their friends/parents/significan others/siblings thunderbirds, even quite a few of my friends know people, own or have relatives with thunderbirds

the connection is still there, its only a matter of time when ford brroke that common bond between potential buyers of the thunderbird and reincarnated the bond with previous thunderbird owners

i believe so indeed. the tbird has died, we were so close to saving the last remnants of the platform with the SVT thunderbird in 98, but what does ford do? cancels it and orders R&D for the 2002 "homo" style tbirds.

so when the new stang comes out, everyone will get one, then it will fade away much like a 1 hit wonder. the exterior is gonna be a ***** to modify, if there are kits for it they will be like the kits for the older cobras with the underbody scoop and side rockers and such, no agressive, todays standard kits. theres a reason the past is in the past.

see ford has to go and ruin a good thing once again. the mustang we have now is beautiful, its so agressive looking, almost like its stalking its next prey. they couldnt adapt on that idea but make it better, no. they throw away a platform that is making great strides as far as aftermarket, for something thats going to be un-moddable for the next 5 years. the v6ers finally have an aftermarket thats gaining repsect by the thousands, the GT's are getting easily into 12's, and cobras are already there stock. but now if you get one youll have to start all over. i remember when i thought ford and performance went together.

god why is ford so stupid. id remake the new tbird to compete with the corvette and only cost 30 grand. id make the mustang GT to compete with camaro z28 stock to stock. id make the cobra take out vipers. and id price them at maybe 5 grand above the cost it took to make the car. then sell millions and make bucko bucks. id make the cobra a turbo, why not make use of the newest technology. just cause turbo is seen as unamerican is total bs. performance is NOT ethnically oriented. if its fast its fast. make the cobra 4.6 able to take 20+lbs of boost and you got a 10 second car with very few mods. thats just my views on things.

i don't understang how you can say they look all that different. if you look at the side view the lines are nearly the same as the sn95 bodystyle, the front end is vertical instead of diagonal, and the rear bumper is shaped differently... from the front, yes, it looks a bit different. i'd definitely change the headlights, lose the big *** fog lamps, and make the grille area smaller. i'd bring back the cat-back exhaust instead of having the mufflers right under the bumper. i think the interior looks good as well... i think the overall look and stance of the 05 looks strong and a little menacing... and don't worry, there will be plenty of aftermarket :-p

*this has been dark's 2 cents*

I have no doubt that the 05 mustang design will be a success. There is no compitition for the Mustang, its the only affordable american muscle car around, the GTO is 30k and the Firebird/Camero is extictinct. Minus the time Ford made the Mustang II and thought it was a good idea to put a 4cyl engine in Mustangs they're been the same thing a Muscle car, the 05 stang is still a muscle car and keeps classic muscle car lines.

The Tbird has been so many vastly different cars its staggering. From a 2 seat sports car that compeated with the original Corvette to a 4 door boat and various car types between. Unless you're 50+ or a classic car afficianodo people are more likely to remember the boat or the fox body tbird before they remember the roadster.

I think Ford missed the boat on the re-born Tbird. It's way to big to be a two seated roadster like the original they're trying to get people to remember. Heck, a Miata is closer to the original Tbird than the Tbird is.
