#1 | | | What Hp will the 2011 GT have? Vote! What do you think we will end up with when they make the announcement in December? I could put the TQ number up there but there are to many combos so just vote for HP for now.

#5 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? I say (hope for) 400 hp. Slightly under the competition, yet still able to outperform it due to a lighter curb weight and better handling (better overall suspension)...as we've already started to see with the 2010 GT. |

#6 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? I'm thinking 400HP. It seems Ford is lacking only in the power department and with a lot of these other cars pushing bigger numbers (i.e. Camaro) Ford will want to claim that they are just as powerful too. Basically I do not believe seeing past 400 HP but they will squeeze enough out of there just to hit the mark. |

#8 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? ^Yah just like the 03/04 cobras. On paper they were rated at 390, but once people started throwing them on dynos they were seeing much larger numbers. We might see this again. |

#11 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? its not all about hp/tq look at the challenger... its super heavy. Its about hp/tq and weight ratios. The mustang might only have 400hp but if its 300lbs lighter than the competition its just like it came out with 430~ |

#12 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? i really hope that ford has enough smarts to make it atleast 400 hrs. if they are smart it will be about 425, so they are in direct competition with dodge and Chevy. With Ford being lighter, it can kick some serious but!
If it comes stock 425, with a tune, and Cai, exhuast you should be able to get 450 which will be nice.
with Forced induction......well other people on this site have a beter idea of how how the number could get.
guys.....2011 mustang GT with a supercharger? whats the approximate number (keeping the base at 400) |

#13 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? I say it will be heavily detuned to under 400 hp for insurance reasons so they don't risk losing too much of the younger market. Or, it will be another cobra situation with one number on paper and another number in reality.
With that said, there will be tuning software for it real quick and I'm sure we will be seeing 400+ rwhp cars with just a quick canned tune. |

#14 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? ford is probably banking on the GT500 to be the top dog when it comes to performance, the GT will just compete with the Camaro SS and Challenger so it wont take much (400hp should do it) |

If a GT has around 400 (maybe more hp), and slightly close the gap (if you can say that) to the 540hp GT500, will they keep those numbers, or increase them a little bit?
Or will Ford just figure the true-diehard mustang fan with a steep wallet will choose the GT500 because of it's differences: 6spd, 5.4L engine, etc.
Not to mention the new EPA requirements coming out soon. |

#16 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? I would hope the GT500 hp would increase 575-600 would be nice. Either way it wont affect me because I can't afford one anyway! lol... |

#17 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? I doubt it will be in the 400 range even. I'll be really surprised just to see them use a 5.0. Ford has never felt like they had to keep up in the horsepower department in order to sell cars, and I think that still holds true. Besides, 350+ will probably make it faster than the others when you consider weight. |

#19 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? The main reason I feel they might actually push 400hp on them is due to the current HP war ... but its bottoming out a little~ we shall see though.
The GT500 will stay around 540 if not exactly at 540 it wont be changed. |

#20 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? I think the GT500KR is at what, 700+ HP? And it's not taking the regular GT500 (never thought I'd ever say "regular GT500") much to hit the mark IIRC.
Besides the Shelbys are just fancier GTs as we've all found out, they are really just a GT with a CAI, tune, etc. (and well a supercharger), so even these regular GTs can really close the gap a bit. |

#27 | | | Re: What Hp will the 2011 GT have? 05-09 look more retro and that's what they were trying to do. The new front end looks aggressive but it lost that retro vibe and the rear got a more euro style IMO. |
