Re: ive been thinking...dangerous i know

Cobra's are wicked... if you can, I'd say get one. Ultimately for me, I decided I didn't want to HAVE to come up with the funds for one, considering my car wasn't paid off and I don't have a garage. Yes, I wish my car were a Cobra... no, I wouldn't trade it on one at this point.

As far as where to look... I found my GT on autotrader WAY under book. I'd say to give that a shot. Check some local dealerships, you might get lucky if you can drive a bargain. Hell, perhaps even eBay if you get a look at it first.

Re: ive been thinking...dangerous i know

The trade in on your car will probably be around 7,000 to be quite honest. If you really want a Cobra spend a long time looking for exactly what you want and don't settle for less. I spent 6 months watching SVTPerformance looking for the car I wanted and found it. Bought it sight unseen from a private seller and really couldn't be happier. Then, I put my other car up for sale and sold it in a few months. If you can't afford one without selling your car I'd advise saving up a little longer. You don't want to be forced to buy the first car to cross your path.

Cobra's are sick, i haven't even driven mine yet but i can't wait to go play, i know i'll end up buying new tires the day after i get home and i would say if you can find a good deal on one then i'd go for it, i got mine for 18K and then of course it was like 20 OTD. They are super nice cars though i love them and always have, it's been my dream to have one so getting one was a dream come true for me. but i don't think it'd be dangerous... haha good luck man

A Cobra would defenetly be awsome, but depending if u owe anything on ur current stang u might be better of just slapping a SC on ur GT and put down some pretty impressive numbers. Then again the feeling of actully owning a 03-04 Cobra would defently be enjoyable!

Re: ive been thinking...dangerous i know

svtperformance.com will probably be one of the best places (if not THE best place) to look and keep tabs on as you do NOT want to buy a 03/04 cobra from someone that does not know how to correctly mod the car or take care of it. If its 100% stock and the owner doesnt know much thats ok... but only buy a good condition good mileage car. There are FAR to many perfect condition 03/04s out there for GREAT prices.

Do not jump on the first one just to get one, research the things to look for on them, and make sure it fits the bill.

I love mine, had it for over 3 years and am very pleased with it.

You (in the current market) can pick one up for 20k give or take based on mileage and condition. For the 03/04 any more than 30k is considered high mileage lol, not because of any issues just that there are tons with low miles to be had.

Re: ive been thinking...dangerous i know

Cobra's are cool but if I could do it again, I probably would have modded a GT with a custom set up that would equate to or be less then the Cobra as far as price goes. I had to get rid of my Cobra and I really miss the sound of the engine the most. I always desired more power and it was more expensive to mod the cobra and I didn't want to replace it with parts that weren't OEM.
I would give it some thought and figure out what you want out of it.

It's really not difficult to get your GT to run with a slightly modded 03 cobra.

I would think of the money first then if you really like the power from them change your motor out of your GT and you can gain the power out of it. Just like if it was a Cobra.

Re: ive been thinking...dangerous i know

A lot of good advice here, I would say go for the Cobra because I want one. I have a 97 Cobra and would like a 03/04, but I may have to go with a blower on mine for now. I don’t know your financial situation but another option is to clone it a Cobra, or put a Cobra motor in your car. And by the way thanks for your service to this country.

There's a 99 Cobra from Ohio for 10,5k, I think. It's a vert and all that, it looks like a really clean car, but I'd check it out first.

Re: ive been thinking...dangerous i know

for the money the 03/04 cobra cant really be beat.... the performance you get stock and per dollar blows most all other mustang setups out of the water... sure you could buy an old *** fox body but... 90% are beat up and the owners are selling for FAR more than they are worth.

Thats why I went with my 03... easy 550hp+ no hassle and the prices are great... and the motors are VERY strong (someone just turned 200k+ on one the other day)

ya those fox's can get alot of hp and the parts for them are so much cheaper that what you buy for your car now but as spectorV said they are all beat to hell and if they aren't they are way overpriced if i bought a cobra it'd be of an ol' man that doesn't treat it like **** like some kids do
