Re: Chip

If it is what I am thinking it is... its not a chip. It is a resistor. You have an IAT (intake air temperature sensor) that determines the temperature of air coming into the vehicle. This tells the car how much gas to use in the mix.

The "chip" as they call it replaces the variable sensor with a static one (a reading that does not change) if you take the sensor out you will see two plugs/wires. One is the power coming to the sensor and the next it the power leaving the sensor, the sensor lets the power through at a rate based on the temperature of the air coming in. So it adjusts the power it allows through. This is what the computer uses to determine how much fuel to use.

The resistor replaces this so it lets a specific amount of power though always, and does not care about the temperature of the air. So you can make the car think its really cold out side which means the air coming into the car is more compressed and more fuel is needed per volume to maintain the correct air and fuel ratio.

So the resistor is generally a 100k ohm or so to make it think its super cold outside so a ton of fuel is used. This doesnt do crap for horse power, it may help torque a bit but its nearly 100% worthless. It also makes your gas mileage horrible and can foul out plugs and your cats.

Simply put dont do it.

Re: Chip

would you seriously buy a product from someone who doesn't even know how to spell TRIPLE?

Brandon is correct it's a rip off resistor that can damage your CPU
