Re: starter on a 2001 cobra

a ****load of extensions and a swivel is your friend lol. that top bolt is a beast but it can be taken off. have one guy under the car watching the socket and guide it on and hold the socket on the bolt, then the other will be operating the ratchet. it can be a one man job, ive done it before, but its easier with two. as far as putting it back in, all u need is 2 bolts holding it in, the earlier 4.6 castings only had 2 bolt mounting the starter on, and in 96 they went with 3.

I swapped mine with hardly any problems... Just be patient and determine what you need to catch the bolt before you start getting aggravated, took me like 15 mins. Also, I did not use a swivel on my 01 Cobra.

Re: starter on a 2001 cobra

do the guages and all lights stay on when you try to start the car? or do they go off after the click? It sound's like something in the ignition circuit is grounding.

Re: starter on a 2001 cobra

Try jumping the starter with a screw driver and maybe tapping on it with a hammer, the bendix may be stuck.
