02 sensors unclip, and then unscrew. I'm not sure on the MIL eliminators... I got them there... if you had a tuner you could just shut them off

be careful on them, make sure all the o2 sensors are disconnected before you start taking the stock midpipe off. o2 sensors are expensive to replace. Other than that... you should be good. You may consider taking the $60-ish for MIL's and put that towards a tuner... it's like a discount lol.

MIL eliminators are usually good for a while but go out~ so FYI you may need a tune down the road to remove the CEL light for those~ consider them a temporary fix.

yes, mine "went out" and then magically started working. Tuner took care of it for good

Re: Just ordered my first upgrade

yes your car is not gonna run correctly. It's gonna think the engine is running and the cats have went bad.

As far as taking the stock cats out. It makes it a lot easier if you spray the bolts with WD-40 of the like before you try to brake them loose.

the tuner will remove the CODES, not just the light. It shuts off those sensors all together.

I doubt it would be good to run around with the light on.

yeah, or penetrating oil. Just pray to God you don't have one rust welded in like I did. They welded a nut to it and everything and it wouldn't move. Ended up plasma torching it out

It will come back unless they are disabled in your ECM. You need a handheld tuner to do this.

A hand held or tuner is only turning off the rear 02 sensors and the monitoring system along with it. As if you have no rear 02s.

well i'm putting the x-pipe on and it seems like the o2 sensor wire won't reach the harness it's like right there do i need an extender? Or will the green harness pop off the body so it can reach a lil farther?

ok i got the o2 sensors to connect and i got everything on it doesn't really sound right. I think there may be an exhaust leak. If there is how can i find out where it is?

Well, I mean, I just know what an exhaust leak sounds like. You shouldn't hear any noise coming from around the xpipe, all of the noise should exit from the rear.

The most common exhaust leak on our cars comes from the pass side where the little 'donut' gasket is. I always work the x pipe up in the best possible position and kinda tighten each bolt a little at a time and wiggle the x pipe into position often in order to make sure it stays snug. If you cannot get the gasket to stop leaking try a high temperature gasket maker around that gasket or a new one. If you continue to have issues have a shop look at it and fix it for you as it probably won't cost much at all.

I also say go for a tuner.. Buying 2 02 simulators would bring you 1/3 of the way to cost of the tuner as it is

I'm not sure how big a part it played, but just shorty headers and off the shelf tune my car went from trapping ~95 to trapping 99.98 MPH in warmer weather (was an 02 GT)

Re: Just ordered my first upgrade

OK, I'm pretty sure the leak is on the driver side where the downpipe bolts to the exhuast manifold. The bolts are as tight as they will go. This the the pipe where the metal thing that the bolt goes throught can move up and down is it possible its making t hat clicking sound out of the o2 sensor if i didn't get it tight enough?

I didn't read every single post cuz I'm lazy right now, but try getting a squirt bottle and spray water where you think you might hear the leak coming from. look for bubbles.

Re: Just ordered my first upgrade

You can also have someone cover the tailpipes (with a rag or gloves) while you are under the car. You will be able to hear the leak loud and clear (sounds like air rushing out). And as someone said previously, make sure u used a new "donut" gasket and tighten each bolt little by little to draw the flange up evenly.
