Oil Change

So i was drivin back from my 100 mile drive to school and i looked at the odometer and realized it was about time for an oil change. I stopped at O'Riellys and got 6 quarts of mobil 1 since everyone on here says they use it and a wix filter got up to the cash register and the man said that'll be 50 bucks!!! Is it worth the extra 30 bucks i paid over using valvoline?

Re: Oil Change

Hmm...I bought 7 qts of mobil 1 full synthetic, 5 qts of penzoil high mileage, 2 oil filters, 2 boxes of oatmeal, a loaf of bread, and some washer fluid...for $77 last night. I think you need to change where you shop.

Re: Oil Change

if your car has higher miles on it and you have never used synth... not sure now is the time but its worth it if you dont mind the price

You used to be able to get 4 quarts for 20 bucks at walmart..haven't looked there in a long time though. I'll pay more to stay out of that place.

I heard that.

usually end up doing this, perfer to do it myself, i usually pick up a 5qt thing of valvoline synthetic for 18-25 bucks at wal-mart... its a little far away, so i just pick some up when i'm there randomly

Re: Oil Change

Usually buy Motorcraft for half the price of synthetic and do it myself.

Lately I scavange around the shop till I find 7 full quarts and I buy an oil filter for like $3.00. ( I change my oil like .. well when ever I get bored)

Re: Oil Change

Last time I priced motorcraft fully synthetic, I could get Mobile 1 for cheaper unless your are running the synthetic blend. I used to be a diehard Royal Purple fan until they changed their formula and I saw quite a few motors pop on it. I'm not saying that this was 100% the cause of failure, but I'll stick with mobile 1 and be safe, not sorry.
