04 gt hp boost

Hey everyone, i have a 04 gt, stock everything besides an exhaust system and a cool air intake, the hp went from 260 to around 310, but would like a bit more power and tq without spending 4 thousand on a supercharger. Dont have that sort of money to spend yet, any ideas on cheaper ways to up the hp?

Pulley, tuner, injectors, headers. That's all I can really think of right now.

Re: 04 gt hp boost

Well, if your car is stock except for CAI and exhaust, then you have a few options. You could do underdrive pulleys, long tubes, high flow or off road mid pipe, and a custom tune. After that, you're going to be looking at higher cost items like ported heads, ported intakes, things like that.

I am curious about the 310 number though. Have you had the car on the dyno since doing your exhaust changes? 310 seems a bit high for just a CAI and exhaust unless you have full exhaust like long tubes, mid pipe, and cat back.

Re: 04 gt hp boost

you DIDNT get 310 from intake and exhaust. this is what i made with intake, full exhaust, offroad x-pipe, pullies, tune, 373 gears, in my 04 gt.
this was on a dyno dynamics dyno which usually read lower than a dyno jet

Re: 04 gt hp boost

there might be more in it then what i was shown or told, im new to actually working on mustangs because the car was my dads, and i helped him with the cai and exhaust, but i do remeber he told me there was around 310 in it. I'll have to findout what lse he did to it, but i want to get it to around 350, know the easiest way to do it without breaking the bank?

Re: 04 gt hp boost

If they haven't had it on a dyno, then whomever told you it had around 310 is just grabbing a number out of the air.

The original 260 number is at the crank too by the way...where as numbers are almost always reference as at the wheels around here and in the auto community in general.

To reach 350 at the wheels is going to take a good bit of engine work. It won't be possible with bolt ons and what not. It will require head work, porting the intake, and possibly some displacement changing.

The problem with the mod motors is they don't make a ton of power on their own. Granted, if you do enough, you can make some power, but it will hit the perverbial wall eventually.

I would set your goals at around 300-310 rear wheel hp. You should be able to get to that number with under drive pulleys, custom dyno tune, and long tube headers. You may not reach that number, but you will get close.

One more thing, ive been looking at things on other forums about glass packs. I'd love to make my gt louder then it already is, but would a glasspack be smart? or not worth it?

It would be just like running open pipes.
