how much can my car take?

I bought a 99 4.6. I'm buying forged probe pistons h beam rods, and a forged crankshaft. I might bore it over .20 or .020 whichever it is. Then have the heads gasket matched ported and polished and a triple angle valve job. I'm gonna get a cam with more lift then get a 90 mm maf. maybe 42 lb injectors headers cai and about all of the bolt ons. I'll get an aluminum flywheel and a heavy duty clutch. Right there i'm pretty sure i'm lookin at around 350 hp will my t3650 tranny yokes rear and and everything hold up to this power or will i need to beef up some more ****.

Re: how much can my car take?

you still be fine. the trans. would be the first to go, well after the clutch.

Re: how much can my car take?

I'm pretty sure he is "gunna"...not sure if you know anything about building engines, but they take time, and are expensive to build, especially the route he is taking. I'm pretty sure money is an object to him as it is to most of us on the site...it can take guys years to build an engine the way they want it, not mention the drivetrain and tranny to match. Doing something this sophisticated requires serious planning and includes several variables to take into consideration. It is important to have everything planned out beforehand so it is done right the first time and causes as little headache to him and his wallet as possible.

He obviously likes to put his plans and ideas on the forum for some positive criticism and advice as you may have seen in other posts of his...I would do the same before tackling a project on that scale, it just makes sense...so chill out son!

Re: how much can my car take?

I'm serious about this i have the engine almost all the way torn down. My buddy who is a mustang fan is putting an ls1 in his 93 notchback hooked me up with his uncles motor that has a problem i haven't found out what is wrong yet i was told maybe a lifter. All the other things i talked about were not done because of money time or the lack of gain from what i was doing. I have to post on here first to find out how much something will cost because i'm paying for it I don't have rich parents like some.

Wow, I should be impressed, you know ALMOST everything there is to know about building engines...if you were serious in your initial post and that was your intent I apologize, but when you say "this man is always sayin hes gunna doo thiss n dooo that" to me it sounds like someone who hasn't spent a lot of time on here making unnecessary smartass comments.

Re: how much can my car take?

Well my mechanic said it can mess alot of stuff up which is true and it sometimes its fine but i don't think i'll take the risk. But who knows i may do it down the road. Thats something that can be done at anytime thankfully.

Re: how much can my car take?

i on the other hand don't know a crap load about engines, just why they work. i was thinking though, you could do like 50-75 with a wot switch... being that low with your basically bullet proof engine shouldn't hurt anything from what i've heard and you'll have a little bit extra when you need it :dunno:

sounds like a good build up though, can't wait to start mine

Re: how much can my car take?

^^^much agreed...if for some strange reason I lost my current stang and couldn't get another mustang, I'd have no problem owning a camaro, challenger, or any other American car. You couldn't pay me to own an import, especially right now.

Re: how much can my car take?

I don't mind some of the harleys, like the 883 low's and the v-rods. They are nice bikes, but the price tag on the v-rods hurts.

The only thing your gonna miss with an import bike is the harley sound.
It's sort of like buying a v6 mustang, you can work on it and make it faster than the v8 mustang, but it's still going to sound like a sixer at the end of the day, no v8 rumble.

That's how my honda is, it's real nice at idle and in the lower rpms, but higher up Japan's colors show through.

my import has about 77 fwhp... (some guy dyno'd one on a site a while back) so its lacking in all areas... luckly i have a mustang to make up for it.

Mine sounds like a V-Twinky at low rpms (up to 4K) but beoyond that it sounds like a race car. Of course if you reved a HD that high youd be cleaning its internals off the street. V4s are fast Vtwins are half assed.
