Procharger or Kenne Bell?

I'm torn at this point..

I like the thought of crazy bottom end torque, but either option would wake the car up and both are CARB legal

Kenne bell with intercooler is more expensive by about 750 after shipping to me

Kenne bell = more involved install due to the intercooler configuration (between SC and lower intake - like the cobras) and requires liquid to air IC

Procharger = easier to bolt on/run/etc

Not sure how either one works on the 2v but read the musclemustangs article on the KB vs PC on an 05+, and both had about identical 1/4 mile times when the launches were good, with the procharger having 6-7 MPH higher trap speeds..

What do you guys think?

Yeah it is a tough one and I DO like the idea of bottom end torque - as in the buick.. But at the same time I do enjoy a building powercurve, not the most efficient way of accomplishing the goal but..

A car with a linear but not level power curve (if that makes sense) will feel faster than a car that has a flat torque curve, even if it is not as fast from the start

The buick pins you in the seat, but unless you watch the speedo or you're at the track, it doesn't feel particularly fast...

On the other hand (different class of car, and a lot slower, I know..) the camry starts slowish, then builds power, and once moving and you stay in your powerband it's plenty fine... and feels like it's pulling harder, due to the way the power delivery builds

I did enjoy the 'building' powerband in my '92, it had a higher RPM cam, so hitting the gas at lower RPMs.. it felt like a normal 5.0.. then it built from there, and was always enjoyable

HOWEVER, having asphalt-repellent torque from any RPM is welcome as well, though spinning tires draws unwanted attention around here..

Also for upgradeability.. when I inevitably blow up the long block in the GT.. which one would better handle further upgrades?

Feel free to kick around ideas on why you like/dislike either type..

Re: Procharger or Kenne Bell?

i'd definitely go procharger, u can always upgrade the head unit which is relatively easy when u decide you want more out of her. its cheaper, easier to install, and definietly a bad *** blower. don't get me wrong, i always had a thing for the kb's, but the price for blower new has deterred me and the procharger has the biggest intercooler offered. i have been looking into procharger for a while and i have been impressed with their customer service and the power capability of the units. another plus is those prochargers is that they are pretty much the only centri's do not require a oil feed line which is nice.

Re: Procharger or Kenne Bell?

If you want a fun street car go KB, if you want more top end go Procharger. Also, the KB is worse on your internals than the procharger~

for the money though... a single helion turbo is possible and the power of course will be more than either of the above. Not sure on carb legal though~

Turbo is definitely NOT carb legal

CARB issue is the main reason I'm demodding and going to sell the buick if i were in any other state it'd probably be turbo by now

and I agree.. I've definitely decided on procharger.. for sound alone

Re: Procharger or Kenne Bell?

I've been thinking KB with the 2.1 kit. Still not sure if I'm gonna shell out the extra grand for the forged crank. (I get the added expense of buying a SB to go with it) Mine has a dead hole.

I've heard the Bells are pretty quiet. Are the prochargers?

Re: Procharger or Kenne Bell?

I'd go KB just because I like the roots style more.

Re: Procharger or Kenne Bell?

if you want low end torque, you need a twin screw SC, I've had both brands and the KB by far has the low end power you are looking for. I have 2 twin screw cars and one ProCharged car, the centrif's run just like turbos, the boost kicks in a about 2500 or so RPMs on my set-up.
